Glenwood
This Week's Scouting Report
Thursday September 25, 2025
We understand there is a LOT of communication sent and a LOT to keep track of! We try our best to keep you "in the know." It is helpful if you read our weekly E-news as well as the communications from your child's teacher including their weekly newsletters. We also admit sometimes things slip through the cracks. If you are unsure of details relevant to Glenwood events or procedures, please reach out. You may email us or call the office at 610 627-6902.
As always, if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Mrs. Christa Consadene cconsadene@rtmsd.org.
Tomorrow: Wear Glenwood GREEN!
With this year's theme, we will be celebrating TEAMS... most Fridays, we will suggest a TEAM you may wear OR we encourage you to wear your favorite team OR go with our favorite, TEAM GLENWOOD or when in doubt, wear GREEN!
Tomorrow we will hold our first Pride Assemblies of the school year - - so be sure to wear your GLENWOOD GREEN!
Last Friday our Rose Tree Colts players and Cheerleaders showed off their uniforms before their Homecoming Weekend!

Picture Day
Tuesday September 30, 2025
This will be a PROOF program - NO PAYMENT is needed on picture day. ALL students will have their picture taken for the yearbook!
Proof program allows you to view a proof of your child before you purchase. Please do NOT send money on picture day. Ordering information will accompany your child's proof.
Questions? Call 1.800.220.7667 or barksdalephoto.com.
Picture Retakes will be Tuesday October 28th.
Family Discount: If using the family plan, and the elementary student would be the third free package, call customer service at 800-220-7667. Since the high school and middle school are prepay sale and Glenwood is a proof, you could place the order for all 3 students at the same time.
Principal Update
The search for Glenwood Elementary School’s next Principal is well underway. After posting the position in August, we were fortunate to receive strong interest from experienced school leaders across the region. Initial screening interviews were held during the week of September 8. Last week, selected candidates participated in a second round of interviews with a committee of teachers, staff, and parents from the Glenwood community. We remain on track to present a recommended candidate to the School Board for approval at the October 23rd legislative meeting.
Multicultural Mural
The wings mural was made by the Multicultural Club to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and was inspired by a quote from the famous Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo.
Honoring Dignity by Building Relationships and Resolving Conflict
Kids (and adults!) sometimes find themselves in situations where a decision was made that led to harm. This harm may be physical or emotional. Imagine teaching our kids how to communicate with each other about what happened and how those words or behaviors impacted others around them. Through discussion, students are able to accept responsibility for those words and behaviors and create ideas about how to fix any hurt feelings. Restorative Practices is a social science that does just that! 80% of Restorative Practices is building relationships, and 20% is responding to situations by teaching students to reflect and repair the harm.
With Mr. Harrison’s training in Restorative Practices and having his office at Glenwood Elementary, our students have the unique opportunity to participate in restorative discussions, led by Mr. Harrison, that will focus on renewing and strengthening relationships. As part of our PBIS interventions, Mr. Harrison may be meeting with students in conflict to lead discussions and restore friendships. If you have questions, please feel free to email Mr. Harrison at rharrison@rtmsd.org
Broadcast Club
Last Chance: Calling all broadcasters!
Glenwood's Broadcast Club is responsible for making our morning announcements. Reliable and dependable students interested in being part of this group should apply using this link. The club is limited, so not all applicants can be accepted.
Thanks for your interest

Message from Health Room
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We have recently received reports of head lice cases across various grade levels, affecting both boys and girls. While lice are common in school-aged children, we ask that you routinely check your child’s head for any signs of lice as part of your normal hygiene care routine.
If you discover lice on your child, please contact your pediatrician for guidance on treatment. To prevent lice, continue routine scalp checks, encourage your child to avoid head-to-head contact, and avoid sharing personal hair care items. While lice can be stressful, it’s important to remember that they do not spread illness or disease, and are not indicative of poor hygiene.
Below are helpful links to information that may be helpful to you:

ABSENCES
Daily Absence - Procedures to follow if your student will be absent:
- Students must be called out for EACH day of absence (or late) by calling the Attendance Hotline at 610-627-6900 Option 2 before 9:00 am. If we do not receive a call on the Attendance Hotline, you will receive a follow-up phone call / email from the office.
- An absence note is required within 3 days of the student’s return to school. If a note is not received within 3 days, the absence will remain unlawful. You can send in a handwritten absence note or submit an electronic absence form: GES Electronic Absent Note
- All absences due to “personal reasons” and family matters will need to be approved by the building principal to be excuse. If not excused, the absences will remain unlawful.
- “Mental Health” days will not be considered as excused absences – these types of absences will remain unlawful.
- If your child is absent for 5 or more consecutive days due to illness, you must provide a doctor’s note for the absences to be excused. If a doctor’s note is not provided, the absences will remain unlawful. **Anytime you receive a doctor’s note for your child’s absence, regardless of number of days, please forward the note to Mrs. Galinsky at jgalinsky@rtmsd.org or send note into the main office. Doctor excused absences do not count towards the 10 day absence maximum that students are permitted per school year. Once your child accumulates 10 absences (this does not include doctor excused or pre-planned days a doctor’s note must be provided to excuse all further absences taken during the school year. If a doctor’s note is not provided, the absences will remain unlawful.
Pre-Planned Absence - Procedures to follow for planned day out of school:
- Students are permitted to take five (5) pre-planned days per school year for reasons such as educational trip or tour, family vacation, family event (graduation, wedding, religious ceremony), competition, performance or audition involving student.
- The Pre-Planned Absence Request Form must be completed and submitted to Mrs. Galinsky: jgalinsky@rtmsd.org 5 days prior to absence for approval by school principal. Once approved, you will be notified. You will not need to call your child out absent on Pre-Planned days. (Please note that pre-planned absences will not be approved during the standardized testing windows.) Absences due to the above reasons without an approved Pre-Planned Absence Form will be recorded as an unlawful absence. A GES Electronic Absence Form will not be accepted for these types of absences.
