Boonsboro Middle School

From the Principal

Marking Period 1 grades have been posted in StudentVue/ParentVue. Paper report cards will be distributed to students on November 20th. If you have questions or concerns about your student's grades, please contact his/her teacher directly. If you would like to schedule a conference with all of your student's teachers, please contact the Counseling Center.

In addition to marking period grades, students have also earned scores on their math and ELA PreviLearn Interim. These benchmarks are given to every student in the course across WCPS and the data allows us to see where we need to offer remediation or enrichment to our students. The Previ data is also part of the formula used to determine student placement for grade level or merit courses, which is why it is very important for students to demonstrate their best efforts.

It was so nice to see many of you during Parent Visitation this past Wednesday! I hope you enjoyed seeing the classes your students participate in each day. Kudos to the parents who were willing to brave the school lunchroom to get the full middle school experience!

As we move into cold and flu season, I want to remind you that while we do want students here EACH day, their health is a priority. If a student has a fever or is throwing up, they should not attend school. When a student is absent, they should bring a written note (from parent or doctor) to Mrs. Deatrich upon return. Absences without notes will be automatically marked unexcused.

Schools are closed November 27-December 1st for Thanksgiving Break. I hope each of you has a peaceful holiday with your loved ones!

---Lindsey Avara-Reynolds, Principal

Welcome Dr. Shubert!

Please join me in welcoming our new assistant principal, Dr. Steve Shubert.

Dr. Shubert is not new to BMS and was an 8th grade ELA teacher here as recently as last year. We are happy to have him back in our building in the role of assistant principal.

Dr. Shubert replaces Mrs. Hancock who was promoted to the role of Middle School Mathematics Content Specialist. We will miss her, but are proud of her accomplishments and know she will serve the entire district well!

Dr. Shubert's email is ShubeSte@wcps.k12.md.us.
