Ripon Cathedral School Update
Week ending Friday 12th June 2026
Congratulations to our Multi-Sports Team!
On Wednesday, a group of Year 2 children walked to St. Wilfrid's School to participate in an inter-school multi-sports tournament. Thank you to the staff who accompanied them who reported that the children were very well behaved and the morning was a pleasure for all involved. What is more, our team won the competition! Well done also to Alfie and Adith who were awarded certificates for determination. Thank you St.Wilfrid's for hosting, and to the organisers, it is lovely for our children to have the opportunity to compete with other schools.
Well done to this week's stars.
Nursery –William for joining in and contributing to circle time and class discussions.
Reception – Theo H, for his respectful attitude to others. Theo is always kind, polite and had excellent manners.
Year 1 – Olly H, for showing super effort, determination and resilience in PE this week. During his tennis sessions with Mr Steel, he has been working hard on holding the racket accurately and focusing on hitting the ball in the centre of the racket.
Year 2 – Myles, for fantastic contributions during our carpet times in all subjects, including English. It's been lovely to hear his thoughts and ideas.
Year 3 – Ruby, for writing an informative and detailed non-chronological report on Ancient Egypt.
Year 4 – Gracie, for her concentration and resilience in her maths learning, putting in 100% effort.
Year 5 – Hugo, for always doing the right thing, really starting to think about presentation and improving handwriting.
Year 6 - Olivia, for being a star in production practice. Olivia has fully committed to her role, listening to and acting on all feedback.
Sandwiches and T-Shirts on Sale!
All the Year 5 children have been hard at work using lino prints to make some fabulous t-shirts and tote bags. The Year 3 class have been practising making bread and choosing sandwich fillings. So please head to Ripon market next Thursday to support them! Times will be published on ClassDojo and parents of those classes will receive further information.
Friends of the School
Summer Fair Friday 26th June 2pm to 5pm
As previously announced, we'd like to remind you that the Summer Fair is being held on Friday 26th June, 2pm - 5pm. A switch from Saturday to Friday for the fair, will mean all the children can be involved, at least earlier on. We think that many of you, including a good number of working parents (Oscar's is much less busy on the final day of the working week!), are able to collect on Fridays and would like to encourage you all to come along.
We would appreciate help before the big event as we would love donations for:
- Teddy bear tombola
- Bottle tombola
- General tombola
- Raffle prizes, including any vouchers for local businesses/shops etc. if people can source donations.
- Baked items (to be brought in Thursday 25th or Friday 26th June not in advance!).
Please could you start to bring items into school next week, thank you.
Mrs Walsh will be sending out a letter to parents of Year 5 and 6 children asking for permission for any who can to stay in school until 5pm to help with stalls and activities. We also really need parent volunteers on the day itself, please email rcpsfriends@gmail.com if you can help.
There will be a get-together for all parents on Tuesday 16th June, 7.30pm in the Claro Lounge which will be a social session with a bit of chat to continue organisation of the fair, all welcome!
Many thanks for everyone's help, we are looking forward to the big event!
Farewell and Best Wishes
On 3rd July, we will be saying goodbye to Mrs Armstrong who will be leaving us for a new role after almost 9 years of dedicated service to our school community.
Throughout her time with us, Mrs Armstrong has made a positive difference to the lives of so many children, providing support, encouragement and care both in and out of the classroom. Her commitment, kindness and enthusiasm have been greatly appreciated by pupils, staff and families alike.
We would like to thank Mrs Armstrong for all her hard work and the contribution she has made during her years at the school. She will be greatly missed by everyone who has had the pleasure of working with her.
We wish her every success and happiness for the future as she begins this new chapter.
