Week 25

📚 Every Day Counts at Jungman STEM Magnet
At Jungman STEM Magnet School, we believe that every student, every day matters. One of the most important factors in student achievement is consistent school attendance.
Why Attendance Matters
When students miss school, they miss:
-
Direct instruction and hands-on STEM learning experiences
-
Collaborative group work and peer discussions
-
Intervention or enrichment opportunities
-
Social-emotional learning and community building
Even missing just two days per month adds up to 18 days in a school year — nearly a full month of learning lost.
Research shows that students who attend school regularly:
✔️ Achieve higher in reading and math
✔️ Build stronger relationships with peers and teachers
✔️ Develop better routines and responsibility
✔️ Are more likely to graduate prepared for high school success
Understanding Chronic Absenteeism
A student is considered chronically absent if they miss 10% or more of the school year — whether the absences are excused or unexcused.
At Jungman, improving chronic attendance is one of our key priorities this year. When students are present consistently, our entire school community grows stronger.
How Families Can Help
We know families are juggling a lot. Small, consistent actions make a big difference:
-
Establish consistent bedtime and morning routines
-
Schedule appointments outside of school hours when possible
-
Communicate with the school if challenges arise
-
Reach out early if your child is reluctant to attend
If your family is facing barriers — transportation, health concerns, housing instability, or other challenges — please contact us. We are here to partner with you.
Our Commitment
At Jungman, we are:
-
Monitoring attendance weekly
-
Celebrating strong attendance at the classroom and school levels
-
Partnering with families early when patterns emerge
-
Creating engaging, joyful learning environments students want to attend
Improving attendance is not about punishment — it is about partnership.
Together, we can ensure that every Eagle is present, learning, and soaring.
🦅 Every Day. Every Eagle. Every Opportunity.
Jungman is currently working on our Continuous Improvement Plan, and family voice is a critical part of that process. We want to better understand how to engage, support, and connect with our families in meaningful ways.
Your feedback will help us improve parent involvement, strengthen our school community, and plan meetings, events, and opportunities that work best for you and your family. This survey is short and should take about 3 minutes to complete.
Thank you for taking the time to share your voice — your input truly matters.
You can find the survey HERE

Attendance Stats This Week
Attendance Rate this past week: 89%%; A 1% drop from the previous week
Eagles, we have to do better! Last week was a very short week,
it was only 3 student attendance days, our attendance should have been higher!
