Dear NMS Parents,

I wanted to update you on a recent change regarding how we refer to our end-of-year celebration for 8th-grade students. From now on, we will call this event the 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony instead of 8th Grade Graduation.

We made this decision to better reflect the educational journey of our students. The word "graduation" usually means finishing a major educational stage, like high school or college, and we want to honor those important milestones as separate achievements. Calling this event a "promotion" highlights that 8th grade is a crucial step in our students’ progress toward those future successes.

Please be assured that this change doesn’t lessen the importance of celebrating our students' hard work and growth. The 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony will still be a meaningful occasion, recognizing the dedication and success of our students as they get ready to move on to high school.

Thank you for your support in making this adjustment and for continuing to celebrate our students' accomplishments in a way that prepares them for future successes.

Safety for our students and staff is something we take very seriously here at NMS. Please talk to your children about the seriousness of making threatening comments regarding students, staff, or the school. No comments will be handled as a joke here at Nippersink Middle School and law enforcement will be contacted if comments are made or shared on social media.
