Happy Friday!
As we head into the weekend, I want to take a moment to thank all of our teachers and caregivers for taking the time this week to meet and discuss student progress. These conversations are an important part of building strong partnerships between home and school. I hope those of you who participated in conferences found them informative, helpful, and productive. When families and teachers share a common understanding of a student's strengths, areas for growth, and goals, everyone benefits—especially our students! If you were unable to schedule a conference but would still like to meet, please reach out directly to your student's teacher(s). We are always happy to connect!
Friday Night Football:
Friday night football is a tradition deeply rooted in many communities. It brings students, families, and neighbors together to cheer on their teams, celebrate school spirit, and enjoy time as a community. Maynard is fortunate to have this tradition, and we want to ensure it remains a positive experience for everyone. Unfortunately, we continue to experience some behavioral challenges involving students attending Maynard High School football games. While I recognize that these concerns do not apply to the vast majority of our students, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment requires all of us to work together and reinforce shared expectations.
Beginning this week, students attending football games are not permitted to gather or hang out on the surrounding ballfields. These areas are dark, are not supervised, and have become locations where unsafe behaviors have been reported. Students who do not follow this expectation may be asked to leave the game and could lose the privilege of attending future games. We ask that all caregivers take a few moments to review these expectations with their children before attending a game. Attending a Friday night football game is an opportunity to have fun, support our student-athletes, and demonstrate pride in our schools and community. With that opportunity comes the responsibility to make safe and respectful choices.
Our goal is not to discourage students from attending games. In fact, it's just the opposite! We want our students to enjoy these experiences, build positive memories, and continue participating in a tradition that makes Maynard special.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support in helping us maintain high expectations while keeping our students safe. Together, we can ensure Friday night football remains a fun, welcoming, and positive community tradition for years to come.
Have a wonderful weekend, and go Tigers!
Best
Keith

The Beacon Santa Fund
Since 1965 the Beacon Santa Fund has been helping families in Acton, Bedford, Billerica,
Boxborough, Chelmsford, Concord, Lexington, Lincoln, Littleton, Maynard, Stow, and Westford
put a little something under the tree at Christmas.
The fund is now being managed by three women from Maynard. Since all board members and
helpers volunteer their time, the money you donate goes directly to help families in need.
This past year the Beacon Santa received over 360 applications (serving 837 children) from
people in all 12 towns we serve who need a helping hand to make Christmas memorable for
their children. In Maynard we helped 180 children. The fund would not exist without help from
people like you. A large portion of the money raised for this fund is given by students involved in
Maynard High School’s WAVM Radio and TV Station by conducting an annual Telethon (last
year they raised over $42,000!). The remainder is done with personal donations. Even a small
donation can help the Beacon Santa provide a gift card for a family in need.
Will you help?
