Congratulations to Ms. McGinnis MCES Teacher of the Year Nominee Congratulations to Ms. McGinnis MCES Teacher of the Year Nominee

Please join us in celebrating our 2020-2021 Teacher of the Year nominee: Angela McGinnis

Ms. McGinnis started her teaching career at Mays Chapel when we opened our doors in 2014. A graduate of our PDS partner school, Stevenson University, Ms. McGinnis showcased her love of the profession and students from day one starting on our 3rd grade team. She was successful creating learner centered environments as we began our journey as a Lighthouse School pioneering a blended one to one computer learning environment. She quickly became a respected member of our school community, beloved by her students and collaborative member of the larger school community. Ms. McGinnis now serves on the 5th grade team and a lead teacher. She is to be commended for her team approach to everything and the work around staff-wide professional development transitioning to a virtual learning environment this year. Her positivity, approachable style, love of her students and lifelong learning make her role model for all of us! When asked about her "why" regarding her profession she shared:

“Teaching allows me to provide students with a mirror that helps them develop their strengths and confidence, so that they can discover their own "whys".”
