RACE FOR THE STARS 2022

In line with our 20th Anniversary, we have launched our first public event, Race For The Stars 2022!

The aim of the event is to raise awareness about poverty and inequality in Singapore as well as about Children's Wishing Well. Everyone is welcome to join and all you have to do is make a minimum donation of $20 when you submit the registration form.

From there, sit back and wait for your race shoelaces as well as info sheet which will be mailed to you. There are 3 reflection questions on the info sheet and we encourage you to post your responses to any of these questions online with the hashtag #Raceforthestars22.

For every 5km,10km or 15km clocked in a single session, redeem small tokens to remember us by. For more information, head on over to our social media or website and we look forward to your participation!

Join us and be our star advocate in our race to end inequality.

Humans of Children's Wishing Well

As shared in our previous newsletter, we have launched our very own photobook, Humans of Children's Wishing Well! A collection that shares about our children, volunteers, staff and even partners. We hope you enjoy reading through it.

Racial Harmony Day 2022

Adding on to the experiences the children had in school, Children's Wishing Well took the chance to celebrate Racial Harmony Day to reinforce the importance of treating everyone around us with respect so as to maintain a happy and cohesive environment.

we shared with them about the various ethnic food and games, letting them experience making a Gimbap, paper lantern and Batik painting! We also had a henna station for them to get a small design.

Check out some of the pictures below.

MORE TIPS TO HELP YOU CONNECT WITH YOUR LITTLE ONES

Children are little humans with big emotions. Understanding and managing emotions is important for their development and wellbeing.

Being in school for many hours a day can create pent-up emotions. Hence, talk to your child often so that they can unload, process and better understand why they are feeling this way. Children will be more likely to open up to us if we open up to them, too. Start a casual conversation with your child by telling them how your day went. Getting as specific about the details as possible will help. You can tell them simple things like you forgot your coffee or your favourite pen broke.

We hope these tips will help you. Head on over to our social media (@childrenswishingwell) and follow us for more.

Be our star advocate

Thank you to everyone that responded to our last newsletter and shared about us on your social media pages. We are so glad to have crossed the 1,000 follower milestone on Instagram! It is heartening to see the support that we continue to receive and we hope that this will translate to more awareness about poverty and inequality in Singapore.

Apart from following us on social media, do also consider joining our Race For The Stars 2022 event where we look forward to hearing your thoughts and responses on poverty and inequality in Singapore through our reflection questions. The fight to end inequality is a long and hard one, but the first step lies in raising awareness and sparking conversations.

See you in your next newsletter!
