MPHS - Important Things to Know!
February 9, 2025
MPHS Students and Families,
Hard to believe but we are already 10 days into Quarter 3! This is a great time to for our students to reflect on their academic goals, improve grades, prioritize attendance, and set the stage for future success. Please continue to have these important conversations with your students and reach out to our faculty and staff for support.
This past week, we had the opportunity to celebrate our wonderful school counselors during Counselor Appreciation Week! If you have not done so already, please reach out to our counselors to show them your appreciation. You can find their contact information and the end of this newsletter.
We have been having conversations with students and parents in grades 8-11 about our CTE course options and course selection process as we get ready to select courses for the 2025-26 academic year. This time is important as we work with each student to ensure they are on track to meet their educational goals and explore academic opportunities. See information on your child's Academic Career Plan below and check out our CTE Fair we held this past week!
As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns.
Charles Forrest
Principal

February is CTE Month!
The month of February celebrates Career and Technical Education! CTE prepares students for the workforce across a wide range of industries and occupations. Through CTE students can learn skills in the classroom and on the job to support their careers. They can also earn industry certifications and licenses that will prepare them for life after high school.

Academic and Career Plan
Virginia requires all students to complete an Academic and Career Plan (ACP) each year. The ACP is to be reviewed and signed by a parent/guardian annually. At your earliest convenience, please review your student's plan that was emailed on January 24. Please note that the ACP can be reviewed and updated by the student at any time as they matriculate through their high school career. For additional information, please visit: https://www.doe.virginia.gov/parents-students/for-students/graduation/graduation-requirement-resources/academic-career-plan.
If you have any questions, please contact your student's counselor.
