Dear North Star Community,
We have had another wonderful week at school! Our scholars are deeply engaged in vibrant learning activities across all grade levels: investigating local indigenous cultures, exploring worm habitats, tracing the hero’s journey through literature, analyzing Martian data to uncover the causes and effects of erosion, and examining the dynamics of medieval societies.
A huge thank you to the families who donated Legos! They have been an absolute hit during lunch recess. Our students are also thoroughly enjoying our outdoor yard games, including chess, cornhole, and Spikeball. If your family is ever looking to donate gently used yard games, our scholars are always excited to put them to good use!
Finally, September is National Suicide Prevention Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness, sharing vital resources, and breaking the stigma surrounding mental health. Here on campus, we are extraordinarily grateful to our Parent Club for funding two mental health counselors who are available five days a week. Caregivers can complete a referral form at any time to request support for their scholar.
As always, if your student needs anything, please know that we are here and ready to support! Wishing your family a wonderful, cool, and restful weekend.
Sincerely,
Erin Kekos
Principal, North Star

Written by Scholars for Families
Hello, North Star Families!
The school year has been off to a great start. We have several spirit days and other activities coming up! This includes sports day on the 18th of September, in which you can dress in sports apparel or as your favorite player for house points!
Another event we have coming up in September is to spread awareness for suicide awareness month; we will be featuring yellow bows on our Dippin' Dots and Otter Pops that we sell on Fridays at lunch outside Mr. Perkins’s classroom window. We also have many fun things coming up for October, so be ready for the Halloween Dance, the Halloween Rally, Teacher Mummification, and more!
Stay tuned for more details!
