6/16/26 Update
I would like to share an exciting update and officially welcome Mike McEwan to the Towson High School family as our new Athletic Director.
Mike joins Towson after serving the past 16 years as the Athletic Director at Loch Raven High School. Prior to his time at Loch Raven, Mike served as the Athletic Director at Western School of Technology. Throughout his career, he has built a strong reputation as a dedicated leader and a respected member of the Baltimore County athletic community.
What makes Mike an especially great fit for Towson is his deep connection to our community. As a longtime Rogers Forge resident, active member of the Towson Recreation Council, and coach with Towson United Soccer, Mike is already firmly entrenched in the Towson area. He has developed strong relationships with many of our families and has spent years investing his time and energy into the young people of this community.
Mike brings a wealth of athletic and administrative experience to Towson. His leadership, commitment to student-athletes, and passion for education make him a perfect fit for our school and community.
Mike's experience also makes him uniquely qualified to navigate some of the facility challenges we have faced over the past few years. For those unfamiliar with Western Tech, the school does not have its own athletic fields, requiring its athletic programs to utilize off-site facilities and creative scheduling solutions. As a result, Mike is very accustomed to thinking outside the box and managing the logistical challenges that come with limited field space. That experience will serve Towson well as we continue transitioning into our new facilities and navigating the challenges that come with a growing athletic program.
And on top of all that, Mike is the kind of person who is always willing to do whatever is needed to support students and programs. In addition to being an outstanding Athletic Director, he also holds a CDL license and isn't afraid to roll up his sleeves and help wherever needed. So don't be surprised if you see him behind the wheel of a team bus from time to time.
Mike's official first day as Towson's Athletic Director will be July 1, 2026. Over the coming weeks, we will work closely together to ensure a smooth transition and position our coaches and student-athletes for success heading into the 2026-27 school year.
I am incredibly excited about the future of Towson Athletics under Mike's leadership. Mike and I have been good friends and colleagues for many years, and I look forward to working closely with him throughout the transition process in the coming weeks.
Please join me in welcoming Mike to the Towson High School family.
Go Generals!
