Principal's Weekly Update
Week of October 27-31

Week of January 5-9
Administrator's Message ๐พ
Dear Wildcat Families,
We hope you had a wonderful holiday break - Happy New Year!
Final semester grades will be available in Aeries and will be mailed home by the district office. Grades reset at the semester, students have an opportunity to start the second semester strong, and to maintain their grades rather than playing catch-up! We encourage students to set goals and periodically adjust as needed. Let's make the second semester a good one!
Some students had schedule changes due to program changes and/or balancing of classes. Please have your student check their Aeries account (and email!) to see if their classes have changed. Any student with a new schedule can pick up a printed copy in the main office in the morning.
When we return from winter break on January 5th, our PE teachers will be requiring that students change out for PE in the locker rooms. Uniform ordering information is linked below. Students will need a lock for their locker. Students may bring their own lock or combination locks can be purchased in the front office for $5 (cash only).

Parent Workshop
Please join us for a workshop on mental health 101 and stigma reduction in collaboration with SCOE being held at B. Gale! Sign up for one of our two dates on ParentSquare to secure your spot! Spanish translation and childcare provided.
BGW Happenings
๐พ ROAR Assembly ๐
We held our first-ever whole school rally/assembly in our new gym to celebrate our ROAR award winning students, winter sports athletes and the culmination of the semester. PTO provided wildcat pep rally gear to our students and the staff surprised our students with a flash mob - fun was had by all! ๐
โ Holiday Music Treat ๐บ
Three of our BGW staff members treated our community to live holiday music on the last day of school - thank you Dr. Nomura, Ms. Parker and Mr. Mulvihill for the holiday cheer!
BGW Spelling Bee๐
Calling all super spellers! It is time to begin preparing for our second annual spelling bee! This event will take place on Tuesday, January 27th: the top two finalists will have the opportunity to compete in the district wide spelling bee and will receive a medal. This is a great opportunity to compete academically and to further develop your literacy skills. Interested students are to stop by room 20 to register and to pick up a practice packet from Mrs. Latini.
Battle of the Books ๐
Do you love to read? Do you love to compete? Well then, Battle of the Books is the perfect opportunity for you! At the middle school level, schools form teams that will work together to read the same books then compete against other schools in a trivia competition. Please visit the BGW student Google Classroom to register, or see Mrs. Latini in room 20 for more information. You can check out our first two books right away, so that you can start reading over break if youโd like. Our first official meeting will be in January.
Library Donations ๐๐ฒ
Our library staff members are striving to create non-tech activity options for students before school and during lunch. They have created a game/craft cart and would love to add more hands-on items. Check out the library's wishlist below!
