During the month of October we continued to work on building a safe, positive classroom environment. We continued to participate in various activities that involved working together as a team, communicating, strategizing, cooperating and encouraging and supporting our teammates/classmates. The main objective for this month was to learn how to be responsible for yourself and your actions while maintaining a classroom community where all students feel welcomed and safe. We also continued to work on building relationships with each other through activities and play.

Self Control

Self Control means being able to resist immediate temptations and avoid acting on impulse in order to achieve more important goals, such as learning and being kind. When kids have better self control, they do better in school and get along better with others.

Soccer - Instep Kick

During the month of October we continued to work on our soccer unit. We continued to practice dribbling with our feet, passing and the instep kick. We practiced these skills both in isolation and during activities. The instep kick is used to kick the ball and, as players get older, for long passes and shots on goal.

End Line Soccer

We completed our soccer unit with an activity called end line soccer. End line soccer is a modified soccer game where all students are able to participate at the same time. Students' used their dribbling, passing, kicking, offense and defense in the field. They were also using the skills catching, trapping and blocking while playing goalie.
