Letter from the Principal
Pella MS Families,
Only a few more days until the end of the first semester and a long break. This month we have been busy with dress-up days, WorkSmart site visits, concerts, wrestling meets, and basketball games. Even with all of these events and changes in our routine, students have continued to do a fantastic job in the classroom as well.
Thank you for continuing to support your student during these busy days. I hope the upcoming break will relax them and recharge them for a great second semester.
Sincerely,
Scott Tjeerdsma, Principal

8th Grade High School Course Registration
Although it may feel surreal, it is almost time to register your 8th grader for his/her high school classes! Jessica Manning and Rachel Van Zante (the high school counselors) will be holding a Student AND Parent Course Registration Meeting on Wednesday, December 11th. Student AND Parent Course Registration Meeting - Wednesday, December 11th Location: Pella High School Auditorium Time:: 5:15-6:15 Bring: Your student’s laptop The state mandates that parents sign off on their 8th graders’ four-year plans, so we are hoping for 100% attendance. You and your 8th grader will need to attend together. Please make sure your students know how to access Infinite Campus before the meeting, as they will need to get into their “Course Plan’ on Infinite Campus to sign up for their classes. Again, attendance at the meeting is very important; your student will actually sign up for 9th grade classes during this meeting. After the session, there will be time for questions. Before this meeting, Jourdan Van Wyk (the middle school counselor) will be discussing course options with the 8th graders. Students will also tour the high school at a later date next semester. It is our hope to partner with parents in the course selection process! If, for some reason, you cannot attend on the 11th, please let Jourdan Van Wyk know at jourdan.vanwyk@pellaschools.org.
SAVE the DATE - Pella MS Student Showcase
At the beginning of March we will be hosting student-led conference at Pella MS. Students will work throughout the next few months on a leadership portfolio that they will share with their parents and their Monday Leader in Me teacher.
More details to come, but please plan on attending these conferences on either March 3 or 6.
