DISTRICT UPDATES
Youth Mental Health Day Update
Chelsea Public Schools hosted its Youth Mental Health Day event at the Browne and Wright Middle School, bringing together students, families, staff, and community partners in support of youth mental health, wellness, and belonging.
Despite the rain, the event was a tremendous success, with approximately 450 people in attendance. Families had the opportunity to connect with local organizations, learn about mental health and community-based resources, participate in activities, and celebrate the importance of supporting the whole child.
This year’s event included a strong turnout from community partners and vendors, whose presence helped create a welcoming and resource-rich environment for our students and families. We are grateful to all staff, volunteers, departments, and community organizations who helped make the event possible.
Youth Mental Health Day continues to reflect Chelsea Public Schools’ commitment to student well-being, family engagement, and building strong partnerships that support the social, emotional, and mental health needs of our school community.
Superintendent Student Advisory Council
This week, Superintendent Abeyta and Chief of Staff Dr. Jennings met with SSAC students for the last time this school year. SSAC students met monthly with Dr. Abeyta and served as student advisors to the Superintendent on all matters related to the student body. The last meeting was an emotional last one for the seniors who served as members. The seniors will be missed for their insight, intellect, and commitment to the students of Chelsea. We know they will make us proud in the future endeavors.
CPS Students Participate in Annual Memorial Day Ceremony

CHELSEA VIRTUAL LEARNING ACADEMY UPDATES
With Love & Pride from Oklahoma
CVLA graduate Napoleon Jean Lambert (Class of 2024), now studying Computer Science at Salem State University, is currently serving in the U.S. Army Reserve. After graduating from basic training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma last year, he is now preparing to complete Phase 2 of his Army training while on temporary leave from college during his enlistment.
Today, Napoleon and fellow 2024 CVLA alum Nicole Riscanevo joined our daily Community Meeting Zoom to share updates about what they are currently doing and their future plans. It was a great opportunity for our students to reconnect with alumni, hear about their successes, and see the many paths our graduates are taking after CVLA.
This Week at CVLA
Our students had the exciting opportunity to attend Lieutenant Governor Driscoll’s Healthy Youth Summit in Boston. During the event, our Student Leaders engaged in important conversations focused on youth wellness, leadership, and creating positive change within our communities. The summit brought together students from across the state to learn, connect, and share ideas on supporting healthy and successful futures for young people.
In addition, some of our CVLA students were recognized during the Early College Celebration. We are incredibly proud of our seniors and all of the students who were celebrated for their hard work, dedication, and academic achievements.
