WEEKLY RECAP
Welcome back from Spring Break! We hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable time with family and friends. We’ve jumped right back into learning this week!
Our 7th-grade science students explored food webs in the Kansas prairie, deepening their understanding of ecosystems and how organisms interact. Meanwhile, Robotics students proudly showcased their creative pull-toy designs for families.
As we head into the final quarter, we have many exciting events planned over the next two months. Please be sure to read each newsletter carefully for important updates and details.

CHARACTER STRONG
7th Grade: Exercising Well-Being
8th Grade: Regulating Emotions in Academics (Overcoming Obstacles)
Family CharacterDare: The Collaborative Cook
Plan and cook a meal you’ve never tried before as a family. Make sure everyone helps create the meal. Then, sit and enjoy it together.
How many phases can you involve the whole family with? The shopping? The prepping? The cooking? The cleaning? At the end, give yourself a Yelp review by assigning a number of stars and reviewing the atmosphere of the “restaurant.”
CLUB HIGHLIGHTS
Rabbit hOle Design Challenge
Indian Hills is excited to get to participate in “Beyond the Page: The Rabbit hOle Design Challenge."
This challenge consists of 4th-8th grade students from schools around the metro area. These students get to meet with artists/fabricators from The Rabbit hOle, and then design their own exhibits based on a picture book of their choosing. Indian Hills has 21 students participating.
Under the guidance of Mrs. Thompson, Mrs. Ballard, and Mrs. Ferreyra, these students have been working hard to put together five unique book exhibits. Their work will be evaluated by a panel of judges in May.
NEEDOH TOYS AT SCHOOL
We’ve recently seen an increase in students bringing Needoh-style sensory toys to school. Unfortunately, these items are prone to bursting, which has caused damage to our floors and created difficult clean-up situations. Additionally, the contents may cause skin irritation for some students.
We ask that families please keep these toys at home and not send them to school. We appreciate your support in helping us maintain a safe and clean learning environment for all students.
RABBIT HOLE DESIGN CHALLENGE
These are the remaining REQUIRED meeting dates for the Rabbit Hole Group. Please note the two after school meetings. Let Mrs. Ferreyra, Mrs. Ballard, and/or Mrs. Thompson know if you cannot attend or have any questions.

REPORT CARDS & HONOR ROLL POSTED
Third-quarter report cards are now posted in Skyward. They can be found under the “Grade Cards & Academic Awards” tab on the left-hand side of Family/Student access.
If your child made the Honor Roll, you will also find that designation listed there. Students who received all A’s for 3rd quarter qualify for the Principal’s Honor Roll. Students who received A’s and B’s qualify for regular Honor Roll. If you would like a printed honor roll certificate, please email erinnvogts@smsd.org with your request.
WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP
We will be going on a field trip to JCCC on Tuesday, April 7. Students will take a tour of the campus, participate in a leadership development activity, and enjoy lunch on campus.
Please be sure to return your signed permission slip to Mrs. Ferreyra by March 31 in order to attend.
If you did not get a permission slip at our meeting, you can print a copy of the permission slip here or ask Mrs. Ferreyra in room 242 for a copy.
