Girls Cross Country
REGIONAL CHAMPIONS ALERT! SCHOOL HISTORY ALERT! STATE QUALIFIERS ALERT!
Nerisa Hill. Natalie Carbajal-Serrano. Alondra Martinez. Sara Koch. Sophia Koch. Paris Johnson. Adaliz Benitez Bautista.
These 7 girls DID THE THING!!! The conditions were far from ideal, but these girls went out there, trusted their training, and RAN THEIR RACE! All the hard work, dedication, and consistency they’ve put in since day one paid off today!
These girls fought HARD to keep their season alive for another day, brought home a REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, made SCHOOL HISTORY, and officially became the FIRST GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY TEAM IN FLORENCE HISTORY TO QUALIFY FOR STATE!
Girls, you have no idea how proud we are of you. You’ve put in the work, believed in each other, and proved what this team is capable of. This is what happens when hard work meets determination, and y’all have earned every bit of this moment!
THE SEASON ISN’T OVER YET! WE’RE HEADED TO STATE!!
Boys Cross Country
The Florence Buffaloes Boys XC team finished their season by making school history, earning a 6th-place finish at the Region 4 XC Meet—the highest regional finish in school history!
Though they fell short of their ultimate goal, these boys have so much to be proud of. Throughout this season, they have shown grit, determination, and tremendous growth. They continued to push one another, embrace the process, and raise the standard for what Florence XC can achieve.
The work they put in, the obstacles they overcame, and the standard they set will leave a lasting impact on this program. Way to go, boys!
OFFICIAL: PRIMO MARTÍNEZ IS STATE BOUND!
Primo Martínez is headed to the UIL State Cross Country Meet!
With an incredible 16th-place finish at the Region 4 meet, Primo has punched his ticket to the biggest stage in Texas high school cross country!
State Meet: Old Settlers Park — Round Rock, TX
All the hard work, dedication, and determination have paid off. Now, it’s time to represent Florence on the state stage!
Red Ribbon Week
Thanks to all of our students who helped us recognize Red Ribbon Week each day with your outfits! We had fun doing the daily Rock-Paper-Scissor challenge for those who participated to win a t-shirt. Below were our lucky winners for the week!
Also, a big thank you to our VOTS team for sharing the daily Red Ribbon Week message! The campaign may be over, but the commitment doesn't. Carrying the theme 'Make a Difference. Be a Hero. Stay Drug Free' is a daily practice. Keep making healthy decisions, keep supporting your friends, and continue to protect your future. You have the power to influence this school for the better!
Financial Literacy at FHS
Preparing for Life: Financial Literacy at FHS
At Florence High School, we believe preparing students for life after graduation means more than earning a diploma. It means equipping them with the knowledge and skills to make good decisions in the real world.
All FHS seniors taking Economics this fall are working through Dave Ramsey's personal finance curriculum! Through this program, students are learning valuable life skills, including budgeting, saving money, understanding credit and debt, investing, and making wise financial decisions.
Whether our graduates are headed to college, a technical school, the military, or directly into the workforce, these are skills they will use for the rest of their lives.
Parents, we encourage you to ask your senior what they are learning in Economics! Have a conversation about budgeting, saving, or financial decisions you have made. These discussions are a great way to connect classroom learning to real-life experiences.
At FHS, we want our students prepared not just to graduate, but to succeed in whatever comes next. Financial literacy is one more way we are helping make that happen!
