Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week at WHS

As Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week comes to a close, WHS would like to take a moment to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the amazing students, families, and community members who have gone out of their way to make our staff feel loved and celebrated.

Our school wouldn’t exist without all of the hard work from our certificated and classified staff. Whether in the classroom, the office, the library, the lunchroom, or anywhere in between — every staff member helps make WHS a place where students can grow, learn, and thrive.

Special thanks goes out to Sage Hills Church for providing a full staff lunch and to our very own Baking & Pastries class for cooking up a whole spread of goodies for the staff room! We appreciate you all 💜💛

Sports Medicine Takes 4th at State

Seventeen WHS students had great success competing against approximately 800 students across 48 high schools in various Sports Medicine categories. Keeping with our theme of "Cook, or Get Cooked," a popular phrase adopted by teenagers meaning "To do well, or to not do well," we had several students "cook!" Here were our top contenders and their respective categories:

Varsity Sports Med - 4th

JV Quiz Bowl - 4th

Jaxon Glines - 2nd, Speed Taping & 22nd, Oral/Practical Sports Med General

Sophie Allen - 5th, CPR/First Aid

Luke Fluegge - 8th, Exercise Science

Addie Sagerser - 10th, Exercise Science

Vivian Wallace - 11th, Med Terms

Lauren Waligorski - 16th, CPR/First Aid

Owen Ervin - 19th, Oral/Practical Sports Med General

Abby Baron - 24th, Anatomy & Physiology

Hannah Roche - 25th, Oral/Practical Sports Med General

Of course the best victories seem to be the ones that are not ranked: 14 of our 17 students competed in their individual category for the first time ever, with 8 of them having their first state appearance, and 3 of them being Freshman! Going against approximately 600 competitors in total, 9 of our 14 Varsity champions placed in the top 25. We are also proud to announce that two of our students were selected by an interview panel to represent the Washington State Career and Technical Sports Medicine Association: congratulations to Quinten Casas and Jaxon Glines ! They will be organizing leadership activities throughout the upcoming year for Sports Medicine programs across our state!

Wenatchee Sports Medicine has formally advanced to the National competition, where all 14 of our Varsity members and our top-scoring JV member , Langley Vertrees, will compete to defend—and hopefully improve —our 3rd place title from 2024. The preliminary round, set for the middle of May, takes place virtually. Our competitors will take on the difficult task of answering 300 questions about general sports medicine knowledge in 90 minutes.
