Sound the Sirens: Firefighters at the ELC! Sound the Sirens: Firefighters at the ELC!

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the Hobart firefighters who visited the ELC today and made the day so special for our students. A special thanks to Division Chief Jody Taylor and Jason Dennington for leading an engaging and educational session on fire safety. Our students loved exploring the firetruck, meeting real-life heroes, and learning important safety tips in such a fun and memorable way. Your time, dedication, and service to our community are truly appreciated!

From the Desk of Officer D, School Resource Officer

October brings lots of fun activities—fall sports, Halloween, and school events—and it’s a great time to review some important safety reminders.

Halloween Safety:

*Wear bright or reflective clothing so you can be seen after dark.

*Stick to well-lit areas and walk in groups.

*Parents, please check all candy before kids eat it.

Cyber Safety: October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Just a reminder to protect your passwords, think before you post, and never share personal information online.

Traffic & Bus Safety: With darker mornings, please slow down in school zones and remind students to use crosswalks. Always stop for buses with their stop arm out.

Red Ribbon Week (Oct. 23–31): Our school will participate in activities promoting healthy choices and drug prevention. I encourage all students to get involved!

October is also Domestic Violence Awareness Month. It’s important to remember that everyone deserves to feel safe at home and in their relationships. If you or someone you know is experiencing violence, threats, or controlling behavior, you are not alone. Help and support are available.

As your School Resource Officer, I am here to listen and connect students and families with resources. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly if you need help or know someone who does. All conversations will be handled with care and respect.

If immediate help is needed outside of school hours, call 911. You can also contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) or text “START” to 88788 for confidential support.
