Weekly Update
Dear Booker Families,
💙🐾 Booker Bengals — Every Day Counts! 🐾💙
We officially have 10 school days and a Thanksgiving Break before our Middle of the Year (MOY) Testing begins!
Thank you for your continued grace, focus, and commitment — you are truly walking alongside us as we work to Get Booker Better, Faster!
📚 Every Day. Every Minute. Every Lesson.
Parents, we need your help!
We are seeing an increase in early pick-ups, and students are losing valuable instructional time. Some scholars are even missing entire content blocks such as math or reading.
👉 Think about it this way:
If a child is picked up every day at 2:00 p.m., and that’s the last hour of math class, then by the end of one week, they’ve missed 7 full hours of math instruction! That’s nearly a full day of learning lost each week!
Please help us by:
✅ Avoiding early pick-ups unless absolutely necessary.
✅ Notifying the teacher in advance if an early check-out is needed.
✅ Bringing a doctor’s note when applicable.
We will be reviewing all absences, tardies, and early pick-ups carefully.
Parents of transfer students, please note: excessive absences, tardies, early dismissals, or discipline concerns can result in a revoked transfer agreement per district policy.
🏫 Every Scholar. Every Opportunity.
Every minute in class matters. Every lesson, every homework assignment, every skill practiced at home, and every conversation about goals and growth makes a difference.
Let’s give our Bengals one final push before MOY testing — reminding them why school matters, why effort counts, and how every day brings them closer to success.
Together, we are ensuring that every scholar at Booker Elementary gets the instructional minutes, support, and encouragement they need to achieve excellence.
💙🐾 All scholars have a right to learn and achieve — and it truly takes a village to make it happen! 🐾💙ur partnership now more than ever:
✅ Check grades weekly
✅ Review reading logs & homework
✅ Use Amira, i-Ready, Amplify & TEA practice tools
✅ Ask your child, “What did you learn today? Show me!”
Together, we are preparing our students to shine — and prove that Booker is on the move; Turnaround in Action!

🏠 Family Challenge of the Week
Strong students practice at home, too!
This week, help your child:
📝Review their student goals. Reach out to the teacher to get your child's BOY scores if you've misplaced them and their STAAR scores if they are 4th and 5th graders.)
📚 Read and discuss a book daily and ask them questions!
🧠 Make your child use complete sentences when speaking and writing!
🙏 Share what they're thankful for as we get closer to our Thanksgiving break!
Small routines build big academic wins.
Mindset of Mastery – No Mediocre Thinking Allowed
As we move through our 28-day countdown to mid-year testing, I want to take a moment to talk about mindset—specifically, the Mindset of Mastery.
💭 Mastery Over Mediocre
At Booker, “good enough” is no longer good enough. Our scholars deserve a learning experience built on excellence, not excuses.
We are challenging every student to aim higher:
-
Not just approaching grade-level expectations, but MEETING and MASTERING THEM!
-
Not settling for “almost there,” but pushing for “I got it!”
-
Not comparing themselves to others, but striving to beat their own best.
📖 A Mastery Mindset Starts at Home
You can help by reinforcing high expectations every day:
-
Read with your child and ask comprehension questions.
-
Review math facts daily—addition, subtraction, multiplication.
-
Encourage your child to speak in full sentences and explain their thinking.
-
Set boundaries around screen time and make time for meaningful conversations.
Ask your child:
“What did you master today?”
“What skill are you still working on?”
These questions help students think critically and stay goal-oriented.
💪 We Can and We Will
Turning around a campus isn’t just about changing numbers—it’s about changing mindsets.
When students, teachers, and families all believe that mastery is possible for every scholar, the results will follow.

MEDICAL ALERT UPDATE!
STATE LAW - HELP US HELP YOUR CHILD WHILE AT SCHOOL!
In accordance with Senate Bill 12 (SB 12), parents now have the option to opt out of allowing their child to be seen in the school clinic during the school day.
Please note that if you choose to opt out:
Your child may only be seen in the clinic for emergency situations.
Regular or non-emergency visits to the nurse (such as headaches, stomachaches, minor scrapes, or other routine concerns) will not be allowed.
You will be contacted to pick up your child for non-emergency situations.
screenings like eyesight, hearing, and scoliosis can not be performed.
We urge you to carefully consider this decision, as opting out significantly limits our ability to support your child’s health needs during the school day.
To ensure your child can receive full care in the clinic, please complete the consent form at the link below: SB 12 Health Consent Form
If you have any questions before making this decision, please contact our school nurse:
Mrs. Hughes, RN
Phone: 281-891-8757
Thank you for your attention to this important matter and for working with us to keep all Razorbacks safe and healthy.
If you have already completed the form, we thank you for your prompt attention.
