Mrs. Mangan's Message Mrs. Mangan's Message

Hi Lemme Families,

What a fun-filled week at Lemme! We enjoyed some beautiful fall weather, celebrated together at our all-school assembly with a special visit from the City High Dance Team, and ended our week with some All-School BINGO! It was wonderful to see our Leopards having fun, building connections, and celebrating our school community!

As we look ahead to next week, here are a few important reminders:

Fall Conferences: Don't forget to sign up for parent-teacher conferences! We are looking forward to connecting with families and celebrating all the learning and growth our Leopards have made this year. Sign-up directions and links are included below.

No School – Tuesday, November 3rd: As a reminder, there will be no school on Tuesday, November 3rd, as Lemme will serve as a polling location for the election.

Lemme Eats – Tuesday, November 3rd: Take a night off from cooking and support our Lemme PTA! Join us at McDonald's on Lower Muscatine from 5:00–8:00 p.m., where 20% of all sales during that time will benefit our school. What a great way to support our Leopards!

Be sure to keep reading for additional updates, upcoming events, and all the wonderful things happening throughout our Lemme community!

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We are grateful for our amazing Lemme families!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Proud to be a Leopard! 🐆

Flu Clinic Flu Clinic

Lemme Flu Clinic is on Wednesday, November 4th.

The Iowa City Community School District will once again offer influenza (flu) vaccine clinics in our schools this year. This service will be provided through a partnership with Walgreens Pharmacy.

You can view the full clinic schedule and make an appointment on our district website.

On the day of your appointment:

  • Arrive at the school at your scheduled time.

  • Bring your pharmacy insurance card.

    • Individuals without insurance may qualify for a vaccine voucher through Walgreens and still receive a flu shot.

  • Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

If you have questions about the influenza vaccine or need help registering for the clinic, please contact Walgreens Pharmacy at (319) 341-6153.

Conferences Conferences

Fall conferences are just around the corner! We are excited to connect with you and celebrate all the learning and growth our Leopards have made so far this school year!

Conferences will be held on Thursday, November 12th, and Wednesday, November 18th. We will offer both in-person and Google Meet options to accommodate families. Each conference will be 20 minutes long. If you have a student in 3rd-5th grade, you will sign up for only 1 conference with the homeroom teacher.

A Note from Our Orchestra Teacher: Mrs. Klein A Note from Our Orchestra Teacher: Mrs. Klein

Greetings!

With conferences coming up, I wanted to take a moment to reach out to everyone.

Conference times for the district will be:
Thursday November 12th, 2:20 pm - 7:00 pm
Wednesday November 18th, 7:40 am - 7:00 pm

I will be present in person at Hoover Elementary during these times and would love to meet with you in person if you would like to (even if your child attends another school). I can also do a Google Meet meeting at any point if you prefer, but can also see about traveling to other schools if you’d like to meet in person there (this would be dependent on other in-person conferences I have scheduled). With 7 schools of students to cover, travel can get quite tricky on these two days, but I will do my best to get you the meeting style you prefer.

Please email me to schedule a time so that I know I will be available for you.

If you don’t feel the need to speak with me in person or via Google Meet but would still like to know how your child is doing in Orchestra, I would be happy to write you a personalized message. Please email me to request an email update, as well.

In general, we’ve been making a lot of progress! We've been focusing a lot on our foundational techniques to help us be more successful quicker down the line, and I really appreciate their patience and attention as we've done that!

The Winter Concert will be Thursday December 3rd at 6:30pm in the Opstad Auditorium at City High School. Please plan to have your child(ren) to City High by 5:45pm so that we can tune everyone and do a quick warmup on stage prior to the concert. We ask that students dress a little nicer for the concert than they would for a typical school day, but it certainly doesn't need to be a stressor for them - while 3-piece suits and ballgowns are not required, if that's what your child would like to wear, that's great, too! That being said, I'd rather have your student there than to not, so please don't let the outfit stop them from coming to show off what they've accomplished so far.

It is so important for students to be practicing at home since I don’t get to see them for very long each week. The quicker they can make individual progress at home, the quicker we can make large group progress together at school. I recommend about 20 minutes a day to students, but have told them that any time is better than no time, so if all they have is 5 minutes free, that would be great!

I’m always happy to address any questions or concerns that you may have, so please feel free to email me at any time.

Thank you so much, and I look forward to hearing from you!
