On Tuesday, November 12 from 5:30 - 7:30 PM

all students are invited to perform solos, duets, trios, and quartets for our illustrious clinicians:

Dr. Sasha Gerritson, Mr. Matthew Hanes, and Mrs. Kate Lee.

Dr. Gerritson is a highly sought after opera and musical director of the Musical Theater Works, Musica Nelle Marche in Italy, Opera Piccolo, DePaul University, and the Northwestern Cherub program.

Mr. Hanes and Mrs. Lee are the award winning choral directors at Maine South and Maine East whose students are often featured at the ILMEA and ACDA conventions.

What a terrific week! The Vocal Power class performed their Disney Songs. This unit explores how to perform with high energy, focused movements, and strong emotions. Music 6 completed their Harmony unit. In addition to recognizing parallel and polyphonic harmony, students mastered 12 ukulele chords and four strum patterns. The Digital Music Class created music from a selected photograph or painting. Using the art as inspiration, students created music that reflected the imagery, emotion, and style of the artwork. The Music Theater Workshop classes continue to prepare for their November 8 performance at 1:40 PM. Save the Date! They tried on costumes this week!

I want everyone who participates in the pictures for the yearbook.

Compiling lists from the sign-in sheets is always challenging, so please do not take my mistakes personally. You will show this pass to your teacher to leave class to come to the foyer outside the cafeteria five minutes before our scheduled time.

This pass will also be emailed to teachers closer to October 22.

We are not taking the 7/8 Singers picture until January.

Here is a copy of the Picture Day Order Form. There is no requirement to purchase a club picture. I am including this becuase sometimes kids neglect to bring papers home. 🙂

7/8 Singers will rehearse on Tuesdays after school (3:00 - 4:00) and Thursdays before school (7:30 - 7:55)

Show Choir will rehearse on Thursdays after school (3:00 - 4:00) and Tuesdays before school (7:30 - 7:55)

Friday Morning Rehearsal 7:30 - 7:55 - Both groups

Singers may attend as many rehearsals as they wish each week. They are only expected to attend one rehearsal per group!

7/8 Singers meets on Tuesdays from 3:00 - 4:00 in the MPR during first trimester

then Thursdays for Trimesters 2 and 3

2024 - 25 Student Directors:

Show Choir meets every Thursday after school during the first trimester and Tuesdays, third trimester!

All sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students are welcome! Regular attendance is expected!

Our Show Choir performs throughout the Chicagoland area

and competes in the annual Music in the Parks festival!

Please pay the choral fee at myschoolbucks.com. There is no fee for Show Choir.

The All School Musical is a student chaired production.

Students lead and work all of the crews: Choreography, Costumes, Dance Captains, Hair & Make-up, Lights, Prop Construction, Publicity, Set Construction, Sound, and Stage.

All students who audition for the musical are cast!
