Digital Citizenship for Families: Managing Screen Time
Managing screen time is an essential part of supporting children’s well-being and academic success in today’s digital world. Technology offers incredible opportunities for learning and creativity, but maintaining a healthy balance is key. Setting clear boundaries and encouraging mindful tech habits at home helps children develop the skills they need to navigate their digital lives responsibly. By working together to create a balanced approach to technology use, we can empower students to thrive both in and out of the classroom.

Progress Report Viewing Directions - Starting March 12, 2026
Dear Families,
Trimester 2 Elementary Progress Reports for your student(s) will be available for viewing online beginning Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 5:00 PM.
How to Access Progress Reports
You may access these documents through the Synergy ParentVUE portal. For your convenience, we created a Quick Guide (linked here) that provides step-by-step instructions on how to access them.
How to Access Trimester Standards
The TK-5 Standards are accessible through the PUSD website. For your reference, this Quick Guide (linked here) provides detailed instructions on how to locate them.
Thank you for your continued partnership.
Continuing Student Registration Window: March 2 - March 31, 2026
This enrollment window is for students currently enrolled in Poway Unified schools in grades TK-11. A digital registration packet must be completed for ALL currently enrolled students, whether your child(ren) are returning or leaving the district next school year.
If your family is not returning to PUSD for the 2026-2027 school year, please complete the online packet for your child(ren) to let us know. We’ve simplified the process this year: once you select the "No, we are not planning to return next year" option, the form will automatically skip to the end for a quick submission. It only takes a moment and greatly helps us with our planning for the upcoming school year.
Completing the Continuing Student Registration process will allow for proper placement of your child(ren) for the 2026-2027 school year as well as appropriate release procedures for those who will not be returning. For full instructions on this process, visit the Continuing Registration webpage.

🏃♂️CVES Run Club - Permission Slip and Registration Now Required
Does your 1st–5th grader love hitting the lower track to start their day? To keep our Foundation-sponsored program safe and sustainable, all participants must have a digital permission slip on file.
Quick Registration: Includes the CARES Code of Conduct and liability waiver.
Action Required: Complete one form per student to get them back on the track!
We Need Your Help! 🤝 Run Club is 100% volunteer-led. To open the track each morning, we need at least two Level 2 cleared volunteers. If you have 20 minutes to spare before the bell, please consider signing up via the registration link above. No long-term commitment required—every lap counts!
Garden Volunteers Needed
This is a fun, flexible way to get involved. Volunteers will:
- Present short, hands-on garden lessons (about 20 minutes) to students.
- No experience necessary! You don't need to be a garden pro or a certified teacher! We provide the materials.
- The days and times are flexible and will be coordinated individually with you and the teachers.
- All volunteers must be cleared through the school/district system. We'd love to have Level 2 volunteers who are cleared to work independently with groups, but we can happily accommodate Level 1 volunteers as well!

Catching the Moon: The Story of a Young Girl’s Baseball Dream, written by Crystal Hubbard & illustrated by Randy DuBurke
Springtime brings longer days, warmer weather and the promise of another season of baseball and softball. For readers and fans of all ages, it’s a great time to share stories of the love of the game! Catching the Moon (based on the life of Toni Stone) tells the true story of the first woman to play professional baseball. Marcenia Lyle loved baseball. Those 4 words introduce us to a young girl who thought there wasn’t anything better than baseball. In 1930 St. Louis, Marcenia played baseball with all the boys at school and earned their respect as an athlete. But at that time, not everyone believed that girls should be allowed a place on the field. Despite the obstacles, Marcenia commits herself to proving that she can play and making her baseball dreams come true.
Interested in Visiting or Volunteering at Canyon View?
We love our volunteers! To get started, complete the Level 1 Volunteer Application for Canyon View Elementary at bit.ly/CVESVolunteer or click here (includes TB clearance and Megan’s Law check).
Some roles—like coaching, robotics, or working with students unsupervised—require Level 2 clearance. To obtain or renew Level 2 status, complete the Level 1 steps first, then request a Level 2 form from our office and complete fingerprinting at the PUSD District Office.
If you are visiting campus for a short time—such as attending an assembly, performance, class party or meeting—you do not need to register as a volunteer; simply check in at the front office as a visitor. Classroom visitors need to be scheduled in advance with both the office and the classroom teacher.
