Gifted:
1st-3rd: We will continue with our Hess fire unit. So far, we have learned some about the chemistry of fire and how to determine which fire station is sent to an emergency. Next in our unit is the building of a hydraulic lift (ladder simulation), figuring out the best angle for the ladder to be at and how the weight of the water in the fire truck affects how fast it moves.
4th-5th: We will continue with the building of our mini golf holes. We have marked our boards to their proper lengths so next we will cut and paint them. Then they will be put together on the field. If the weather cooperates, we may be ready for visitors to our putt-putt course by the end of the month π
What will you learn next month in specials (October):
Music
K&1 will be learning notes & rhythms
2&3 will be learning meter
4&5 will be learning notes, rests, staff recognition, and recorders

PE
We're excited to tell you how we're improving your child's physical education by adding games that focus on throwing, catching, and attacking. Your child's coordination, teamwork, and intelligent thinking will improve greatly if he or she learns these essential skills. We are helping them improve their hand-eye coordination, sense of space, and speaking skills through fun activities and games.
Activities like throwing and catching help kids grow their bodies and also help them get along with others and work together. Your child will learn how to throw and catch, skills that are important not just for sports but also for regular life. We are also starting to play invasion games, which help your child learn to work as part of a team, make quick choices, and adapt to different situations. These games teach essential life skills like working as a team, being resilient, and fixing problems.
By doing these things, your child will not only have fun but he or she will also build a solid foundation for a lifetime of healthy competition and physical exercise. These events will help them grow and be more beneficial as a whole. Thank you for continuing to help us make sure that our physical education program is well-rounded and interesting.
Thanks!
Coach Dietrich
