26-27 Golden Bear Family Newsletter
Issue #9
Hello Golden Bear Families,
What an amazing week at TVHS! One of the things that makes our school so special is that so much of what makes us great happens not only inside our classrooms but also outside of them. The school spirit, connections, and sense of community we see during weeks like this are what make being part of our Golden Bear Family so special.
A huge thank you to our ASB students and advisors for all of their hard work in making this week so much fun! Our students, families, and community came out in full force for Friday night's Homecoming football game against Great Oak. Although we came up short on the scoreboard, it was a great evening filled with Golden Bear pride, and the halftime show was spectacular! Thank you to everyone who came out to support our students and show their Bear pride.
We look forward to tonight's dance and all of the fun things ASB has planned to make the evening memorable. It's been a great week, and moments like these are what continue to build our proud traditions and create golden opportunities for our students. I hope everyone has a wonderful time making memories with friends and celebrating what makes TVHS such a special place!
As we enjoy all the excitement of the week, we also have progress report grades to review. We are at the halfway point of the semester, which makes this a great time to reflect on progress and identify where a little extra effort or support may be needed. Now is the time to dig deep and finish the semester strong! Please encourage your students to connect with their teachers and take advantage of the academic supports available to them. There is still time to make a difference, and we want every Golden Bear to finish the semester on a high note.
Thank you for continuing to make TVHS such a wonderful place to learn, grow, and belong. I am so proud of our Golden Bear Family!
Have a wonderful weekend, and as always, GO BEARS! 🐻💛

Earthquake & Lockdown Drill
Thank you to our students and staff for the care, cooperation, and responsibility you demonstrated during Friday’s earthquake and lockdown drills. While we hope we never need to use these procedures in a real emergency, practicing them helps us feel prepared and know how to protect ourselves and one another. Earthquake drills teach us how to respond safely during an earthquake, while lockdown drills help us prepare for potential security threats. The safety of our Golden Bear Family is always our top priority, and I appreciate everyone doing their part to help keep our campus safe. Thank you for taking these practices seriously and for looking out for one another!

Stay Up to Date with TVHS Policies and Procedures
We encourage all families to review our student handbook, available on the TVHS website, to stay up to date on our school policies and procedures. We have made updates to our tardy and truancy policies, academic eligibility for extracurricular activities, and cell phone policy. Thank you for partnering with us to ensure our students understand and follow these expectations. Your support makes a difference in helping us maintain a positive, focused, and supportive learning environment for all of our Golden Bears!
Cell Phone Policy: Thank You, Golden Bears!
Thank you to our Golden Bears for your continued cooperation with our cell phone policy and for placing your phones in the classroom phone corrals each period, including Advisement. We appreciate your partnership in helping us make the most of every instructional minute and maintain a classroom environment where students can focus, engage, and learn without the distractions of cell phones.
We know it takes all of us working together to build positive habits and keep learning at the center of everything we do. Thank you to our students and families for your support as we continue to reinforce this important expectation.
Please review the consequences listed below for students who do not follow the phone corral policy. We appreciate your continued support in helping our Golden Bears make the most of their learning opportunities each day. Go Bears!
🍔 Battle of the Burgers Serves Up a Big Win for TVUSD Culinary Students!
It was a sizzling success at the 2026 Battle of the Burgers on Saturday, October 10th!
More than 400 guests gathered at Pechanga Resort Casino for an afternoon of delicious food, friendly competition, and community support, raising a record-breaking $13,314 for TVUSD's Career Technical Education (CTE) Culinary Arts Program!
Eight local restaurants competed for the title of Best Burger, while Temecula Valley High School CTE Culinary Arts students teamed up with professional Pechanga chefs to create their own unique loaded fries.
Congratulations to TVHS students Abner Yat and Sebastian Pablo Tomas, who partnered with Chef Edward Hyman of Paisano's to win first place in the Judges' Choice category for their "Olympian" loaded fries! The People's Choice award went to TVHS students Hailey Tronti, Raleigh Kay, Michael Sullin, and Evan Crisp, who partnered with Umi Sushi & Oyster Bar chefs to create "Jamaican-Me-Hungry" fries!
Beyond the competition, this event gave students valuable hands-on experience working alongside professional chefs while bringing our community together to support the next generation of culinary talent.
A huge thank-you to Visit Temecula Valley, Pechanga Resort Casino, participating restaurants, and everyone who helped make this year's event such a success!
Before Battle of the Burgers on Saturday, CBS LA reporter Joy Benedict stopped by the TVHS Culinary Arts kitchen to spend some time with three TVHS senior CTE students as they put their skills to work and shared a little about the event they know very well. 🍔🔥
Between interviews, loaded fries, and some seriously delicious Parmesan-crusted crostini, our students gave CBS LA a behind-the-scenes look at what hands-on learning looks like in TVUSD Career Technical Education. Check it out!

TARDY SWEEPS
As we move fully into the school year, maximizing instructional time is our top priority. To ensure students arrive to class on time and ready to learn, we are implementing official tardy sweeps and tracking tardies toward detention effective Monday, September 14, 2026.
Prompt arrival ensures that your student doesn't miss key instruction and helps minimize disruptions for the entire classroom. Please review the detailed guidelines document previously uploaded to the parent portal for complete information on our tardy policies and consequences.
Thank you for your partnership and support in helping our students build habits for success!

Student Drop-Off
REMINDER: Safety First
Partnering for Safe Rolls: Important E-Bike Safety & Campus Rules
Please plan extra time in your morning commute to drop off your students. We kindly ask for your cooperation to help keep the process smooth and safe for everyone. When exiting the A Lot in the morning or afternoon, please keep the following in mind:
No left turns are allowed when exiting the A or B Lot. Several accidents in past years led to this decision.
Be patient, kind, and respectful. Your support helps us get students to and from school safely.
Stay off your phone during pick-up and drop-off.
Take advantage of off-peak times. Students may arrive as early as 7:45 a.m. and be picked up until 4:00 p.m., when traffic is very light.
With nearly 2,700 students and staff arriving and leaving campus each day, safety is a shared responsibility. Thank you for doing your part to keep our community safe and considerate.
