Winter Recess Policy
Winter is on its way! Make sure kids dress accordingly to both ride buses and go outside daily.
This is directly from the student handbook:
Students should be dressed according to the weather. Families and students are responsible for ensuring their students are appropriately dressed when they get on the buses. Students will be required to go outside if the weather is above -10 degrees with wind chill. If your child is ill and needs to stay in for a period of more than 5 days a doctor's note excusing them from recess must be provided.

6th Grade Science Fun!
This month, our creative students in Mrs. O'Briens science class took on the challenge of building cell models using food items! Using fruits, candies, and snacks, they illustrated the various parts of a cell, from the nucleus to the cell membrane. It was a fun and engaging way to learn about cell structure, and the results were impressive! Great job to Mrs. O'Brien and all of her 6th graders for learning through this engaging process.
Attendance Matters!
It’s important to recognize that children may need to miss school due to illness, appointments, funerals, or emergencies. While these circumstances are unavoidable, regular attendance is crucial for academic success and overall development. Consistent participation in school helps children grasp essential concepts, stay engaged with their peers, and build a strong foundation for their future. By balancing necessary absences with a commitment to attending school whenever possible, parents can help their children thrive academically and socially.
Establish a Routine: Set a consistent daily schedule for waking up, meals, and bedtime to create a stable environment.
Promote Good Sleep Habits: Ensure children get adequate rest by establishing a bedtime routine that allows for sufficient sleep.
Make Mornings Stress-Free: Prepare for school the night before by organizing clothes, lunches, and school supplies.
Communicate the Importance of School: Discuss the value of education and how attendance impacts their learning and future opportunities.
Stay Informed: Monitor school calendars for holidays, important dates, and events that may affect attendance.
Be Involved: Attend parent-teacher meetings and school events to show support and engagement with your child’s education.
Model Good Attendance: Demonstrate the importance of commitment by maintaining your own responsibilities and routines.
Provide Positive Reinforcement: Celebrate good attendance with rewards or recognition to motivate your child.
Communicate with Teachers: Stay in touch with educators to understand any challenges your child may face and collaborate on solutions.
