A Message from Principal Anita O'Neill
September 21, 2025
Dear Coyote Community,
Homecoming Week is here, and with it comes so much to celebrate! I look forward to seeing our students, staff, and families join in the spirit of the week through theme days, the pep rally, our football game, and, of course, the dance. These traditions are an important part of building our Coyote pride, and I hope everyone takes part in the festivities.
Please take a few minutes to review the updates below. In particular, parents will find important information in the PTSA section about MCPS’s transition from Remind to ParentSquare. Clear communication is essential, and we want to be sure our entire community is ready for this change.
It continues to be an honor to serve the Clarksburg High School community. Let’s work together to make this another positive, productive, and spirited week at Clarksburg!
Warmly,
Ms. O’Neill

This Week's Updates
It's Homecoming Week!
The CHS Homecoming Week is upon us. Check out each day's theme. We look forward to seeing students and families at our football game on Friday night and our wonderful students in their finest at the Homecoming Dance on Saturday night.
9th Grade College Field Trips
Clarksburg High School is excited to partner with the Montgomery County Career Advising Program (MoCoCAP) to offer grade 9 students an opportunity to visit regional universities on October 15th. Early exposure to college can assist students in making more informed decisions about their post-secondary plans and further students' development toward college, career, and community readiness.
Clarksburg High School grade 9 students may choose between a field trip to George Washington Univeristy or American University. Also 9th graders can participate in asynchronous Virtual College Tours via myMCPS classroom. However, please note that space is limited for the in-person field trip opportunity and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis upon return of the field trip permission form to the College and Career office in room 108. The deadline to return permission forms is October 3rd and the permission slips can be found HERE. For further information please email denny_mortimer@mcpsmd.org
Student Square . . . Get It Now!
Students in grades 9-12 can use StudentSquare only. They will login via the web or app, downloaded to their mobile phone, using the Log in with Google option. Below is a great video tutorial that models the login process and provides a detailed overview of navigating the StudentSquare app to view Posts, Smart Alerts, group and direct messages.
Fidos for Freedom
We are pleased to announce that our partnership with Fidos for Freedom is expanding and dates have been identified for these wonderful dogs and their handlers to visit CHS.
Apply Today for Free and Reduced-price Meals (FARMS)
Apply online for meal benefits today! A new FARMS application must be completed every school year, even if your children qualified the previous year. Households meeting federal income standards are eligible for free school meals, but must apply to receive this benefit. Only one application is needed for all students in a household.

Celebrations
Congratulations to the CHS Marching Band
Our Marching Band has been working hard since the summer and it has paid off! The Band won first place in the Open Class competition last night at Century HS. Next up, competing in the Maryland Marching Band Association's championship next Friday at Westminster HS. Way to go!
Expectations Lessons Completion
A shout out to our students for completing the MCPS Expectations Lessons on September 2 and a shout out to Mr. Douglass for designing a schedule for that day to make it happen. CHS currently has a 77.2 percent completion rate, the highest of any high school. Mr. Douglass is working with staff and students to move the needle on that number to be close to or at 100 percent.
Latin Dance Team Kicks Off Hispanic Heritage Month
Thank you to Ms. Zapata and members of her Latin Dance Team who kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month at Snowden Farm ES with a thrilling perfomance. Snowden students were mesmorized by the talent and energy displayed by our team members.
