VIKING VIEWWEEKLY NEWS FOR APRIL 9, 2021

RETURN TO LEARN INFORMATION

Dear Albright Viking Parents & Students,

Over the last year we have been through many challenges and changes. We are so proud of our students for working hard and staying positive along the way. As we transition back into full day in-person learning, we have a lot of information to share. Some of this information does pertain to our eLearners, so all parents and students are included in this email and should read through the guide. All eLearners will now use their Google Classroom Meets links for each of their classes throughout the day. Remoting in will no longer be approved for vacations and is dedicated to our eLearners and used for health reasons only. We have been working diligently over the last few weeks to get everything organized and appreciate your support greatly. It takes all of us to keep our schools open and we are in this together!

All of the details for our schedule changes and procedural updates are included in the linked guide below. Please read through this information before Monday, 4/12. We are excited to have more student in our hallways again, but we need to continue being diligent with our cleaning and day to day safety protocols.

Return to Full Day In-Person Learning Parent and Student Guide

After reading this guide, if you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us.

Sincerely,

Ms. Aulisa & Mrs. Ross

UPDATES FOR ELEARNERS

Dear AMS eLearners,

We hope you have been doing well and enjoying learning from home. We are getting ready for a pretty big schedule change, so I want to remind you of a few things. We did mail you home a schedule, so please keep checking the mail. We also emailed you a detailed guide, but eLearners have a few more pieces to know.

- We will no longer have a Morning Meeting and you will simply have your attendance taken 1st period each day. You must sign on by 7:45am to be marked present.

- You have a full schedule and there is less time for asynchronous learning. You will be following our normal AMS schedule and many of your classes will consist of you remoting into a live class. We have more full eLearning classes for our 5th & 6th graders, but even they will be remoting in at times.

- You should be using the Google Meet Code for every class you have in Google Classroom to access your classes. We will be posting a virtual schedule for you to use. The weekly matrices will no longer be updated and everything will be listed in each class's Google Classroom.

- You should assume all classes are synchronous "live", but look at the Google Classroom stream for each class to see if your teacher posted an asynchronous activity for the day. Specials and PE will be asynchronous regularly, so please check those schedules closely.

- If your class time starts and you are having trouble getting on, please call us at 630.279.6160 to get help instantly.

- When you have Viking Time, you should be working on your VT Choice Board.

- Please work from a school like setting and dress appropriately. Pretend you are actually coming into school and try to work at a table or desk. You will now feel much more like you're in a regular class as you remote in.

We will all be adjusting to our new learning experiences next week, so please do not feel overwhelmed. Call us at any time and we will all learn these processes together next week.

Take Care,

Ms. Aulisa

You should have received an email earlier this week outlining the changes to some of our health office procedures. One big change is that District 48 has decided to discontinue the daily COVID certification form. In place of this daily certification parents/guardians will be required to complete a one time certification form for each child by Monday April 12th. This form only needs to be completed if your child is attending in-person learning. Directions for completing the form can be found below.

**Important** The form can only be accessed using a laptop/desktop. It can not be signed using a mobile/tablet device.

Directions

1. Log into your skyward account

2. Click on the "Certification and Verification of" tile (see below image)

3. Please review the consent form carefully, type your name into the signature box and the date into the date box.

4. Then hit submit.

5. A form needs to be completed for each child.

Please contact the health office with any questions.

Thank you,

District 48 nursing staff

6TH GRADE HEALTH REQUIREMENTS

All Illinois children in 6th grade, or any new student to the district (grades 5-8), are required by the state to provide school with proof of a dental exam by May 15, 2021. Any dental exam completed between November 2019 and May 15, 2021 will fulfill the state's requirement. If a dental exam form is not received by May 15, 2021, the school may hold the child's report card until proof of a dental examination form is received or until the school receives proof (ex: appointment card) that a dental examination will take place within 60 days after May 15, 2021.

MEDICATION WHILE AT SCHOOL

If your child has a serious health condition that requires emergency medication while at school, please inform your school nurse and complete the required care plan and medication permission form(s). Medications cannot and will not be administered until these forms are submitted to the health office. See forms below.

Kind regards,

D48 School Nurses
