WHS eNotesSeptember 11, 2025

Message from Mr. Imbusch

Dear students, staff, and parents/guardians:

Today is September 11th. As we have done for many years at WHS, we acknowledged the date with a brief announcement this morning:

"Twenty-four years ago today, on September 11th, 2001, a great tragedy occurred in our nation. Though all of our students were not even born at that time, I know you are aware that we are still seeing the effects of that event today. Many of the staff can remember exactly where they were when almost 3,000 people lost their lives at the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and in a field in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.

September 11th reminds us of the cost of hatred and violence. Sadly, as we look at our world today, we continue to see violence and division - in communities abroad and here at home. These events serve as a reminder that violence cannot be the answer to disagreements or differences of opinion.

Students - you are the future. You will inherit a country where free speech and the rule of law are guaranteed by our Constitution. But with those freedoms comes responsibility. It is not enough to simply demand your rights - you must also uphold them by rejecting violence, respecting differences, and finding peaceful ways to work through disagreements. Violence cannot be tolerated in the home, in our school, in our community, or in our country.

At about this time on September 11, 2001, the first plane struck the World Trade Center in New York City. Please join me in a moment of silence to honor the victims of 9/11, and also to remember all who continue to be affected by violence in our nation and world."

Sincerely,

Stephen Imbusch

Principal

National Merit Semifinalists named

Walpole High is proud to announce that two of its seniors, Dyuthi Prashanth and William Fezzie, have been named Semifinalists in the 71st annual National Merit Scholarship Program. This places them among the top academic students in the nation and provides an opportunity to compete for some 6,930 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million.

As two of approximately 16,000 high-scoring students nationwide, Dyuthi and William earned this recognition based on their outstanding performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). The nationwide pool of Semifinalists represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors.

We are incredibly proud of Dyuthi and William (seen pictured above with Mr. Imbusch and Mrs. Dolan) for representing Walpole High on a national level. To be named a National Merit Semifinalist is one of the highest academic honors a high school student can earn. It reflects their hard work and dedication, and we are thrilled to see them recognized for their exceptional talent.

Picture Day is coming September 18th and 19th!

You can place your order on mylifetouch.com using your Picture Day ID: EVTPQWZ4M. Order before midnight on Picture Day to get FREE shipping!
Your child can also bring their completed flyer with cash or check on Picture Day. Orders after Picture Day must be placed online only on mylifetouch.com .
