Basketball Tryouts

Who can tryout?

6th, 7th and 8th grade boys and girls

*Please know that the designation of boys/girls teams is based on the league rules/DIAA guidelines. FSMA recognizes that not all students may not identify with one of these genders and will do our best to honor any requests.

When is the tryout?

  • Tryouts for the Girls Team will be on 11/15 from 4:00 – 5:30
  • Tryouts for the Boys Team will be on 11/14 and 11/16 from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m.

What do I need?

In order to tryout, all students must have a completed DIAA physical form on file with the school nurse prior to 11/14. (All 7 pages must be filled out). This year’s form is available for download through the website’s main menu or can be requested from our nurse’s office. Forms must be turned in one week prior to tryouts in order to be processed by our nursing staff.

One Book, One School - Join Us!

In an effort to teach children about diversity and equality, this year, our entire FSMA community will be participating in “One Book One School” (OBOS). Teachers will be reading books with their class and discussing and parents will be encouraged to read/talk about the book in their homes. According to an anti-racist author and Montessori educator, Tiffany Jewell, classroom discussions are “the beginning of a journey in lifelong anti-racism work”. Following the conclusion of the books, a parent night will be held where we will share discussions together as a parent-student-teacher community.

The following books have been purchased for all classrooms. Feel free to purchase for your at-home library too! More information about how to get involved will be shared as we launch this powerful, inclusive, important project with our community.

Book (K/1st): Identity (Sept): The Skin You Live In by Michael Tyler

Justice (Oct): We are Water Protectors by Carole Lindstrom

Activism (Nov): I Am an Anti-Racist Superhero by Jennifer Nicole Bacon

Book (2nd through 6th grade): The Antiracist Kid: A Book About Identity, Justice, and Activism

Author: Tiffany Jewell

Book (Middle School): This Book is Anti-Racist: 20 Lessons on How to Wake Up, Take Action, and Do the Work

Author: Tiffany Jewell
