Student Spotlight
Congratulations to Christopher Woodford Jr. who was one of the first place scholarship winners in the 35th Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest.
Five Greater Cleveland students won $1,575 in scholarships in the 35th Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest sponsored by East View United Church of Christ, 17300 Van Aken Blvd. The prizes were distributed Aug. 23rd during the church’s Porch Talk, in which East View commemorates a sermon the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered there in 1965. For more than three decades, East View has asked students to write on a social justice issue of the times.
This year, the topic was “What can be done in the diverse Greater Cleveland community to ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to share his or her gifts and talents?”
The Berea Chamber of Commerce celebrated excellence, service and leadership at the 57th Annual Grindstone Award Banquet.

Electronic Two-Wheel Vehicles
Berea-Midpark High School PSA – Riding Electronic Two-Wheel Vehicles
Students, please remember the following expectations when using electronic two-wheel vehicles (such as e-bikes and e-scooters) on campus:
These vehicles may only be ridden to and from school.
Once on campus grounds, you must walk your bike or scooter to the racks or designated area.
Riding is not allowed during the school day, including Lunch and Learn.
Failure to follow these guidelines will result in disciplinary action and the loss of privileges to have these vehicles on school property.
Thank you for helping us keep our campus safe and respectful for everyone!
Attendance
In order to process a request for your student's absence, leaving early or coming in late, please be sure that a Guardian is making the request. We cannot accept a call from anyone other than a Guardian.

News From the Counselors
Important Financial Aid Reminder:
College-bound students should plan to complete their FAFSA as close to October 1 as possible, but not before. Financial Aid Night is at 6:30 on October 1, where Mrs. Spangler from College Now will go over financial aid and FAFSA. Dr. Ruebensaal will go over ways to save money and answer questions about the college application process.
Polaris College Fair
Polaris Career Center will be holding a college fair on October 7th from 6-7:30 pm. See the flyer below for details!
PSAT Testing
PSAT:
* 11th grade is when students taking the PSAT/NMSQT are part of the National Merit competition. We've had students recognized before, and hope to again. Being recognized by the National Merit program can help students have a stronger resume to get into selective schools, open the door for scholarships, etc.
* Knowing your PSAT score will help you to get an idea of what your SAT score will be, and where colleges fall in your reach, match, and safety school list
* Helps you to see if you are on target with learning benchmarks
* Exposure and familiarity with the testing format and platform are likely to help increase your SAT score
* Access to AP Potential, which helps to identify AP courses that might be a good fit for you
* There is a component that can help to customize career information and guidance about planning and paying for college
