LEVEL UP LEVEL UP

Mustang Families,

As we come together following this extended weekend, we had the opportunity to both celebrate and pause, honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. yesterday. Dr. King reminds us that meaningful change requires more than a dream; it demands vision, intentional action, and the collective commitment of a community working together. Central to his work was the belief that education is a powerful force for breaking cycles of inequality and creating opportunity for all.

We honor this legacy by being all in on our mission and our 100% goal to ensure every scholar meets or exceeds their growth targets in reading and math.

The renewed energy, optimism, and shared commitment surrounding our scholars makes this the perfect opportunity to continue leveling up. Together, we are committed to supporting every scholar achieving their goal, while fostering social, emotional, and academic growth through high expectations, strong support, and our caring school community!

As we look ahead to the Winter MAP Assessment later this month and SEL survey, we are encouraged by the excitement generated through the IXL competition and the meaningful progress our scholars continue to make. We will use this information to guide our next steps and carving our paths forward with purpose and confidence. Thank you for being such important partners in your child’s education, your support, encouragement, and trust make a powerful difference as we build our momentum and Level Up together.

Main Parking Lot, Circle Drive and 99th Street: Family drop off and pick up is done on Oak Center Dr. If family members are helping out, please let them know to use the rear of the building for drop off or pick up. Students should not be dropped off in the morning or picked up during dismissal via the main parking lot while buses are present.

We have had a staff and scholars almost hit by cars driving through the parking lot during arrival and dismissal. Please help keep our school community safe!

The main parking lot is CLOSED from 8:15-8:45am and 3:15-3:45pm daily while buses are present.

  • Designating a pick up and drop off area/ location for our scholars to meet their ride has been extremely helpful and allows families to avoid the congestion.
  • Please do not have students run across 99th street or Oak Center Dr. to be picked up without adult supervision. We want to make sure all of our students and families are kept safe.
  • The rear doors (Oak Center Dr./ Circle Drive) will close at 8:35am during morning arrival and the rear doors will be closed at 3:30pm during afternoon dismissal.
  • School tardies will be assigned after 8:30am.
  • Please be patient and courteous!

School Safety: Guests and Visitors School Safety: Guests and Visitors

Our main entrance vestibule will serve as the visitor reception and waiting area. Guests will continue to be warmly welcomed, greeted by the staff member hosting them, and escorted to their meeting location. This update is part of our continued effort to strengthen safety and streamline visitor check-in procedures.

As we continue partnering with our local safety agencies, we remain committed to refining our practices and keeping safety at the heart of all we do. Ensuring a secure environment for our students, staff, and families is always our top priority.

To support this shared goal:

  • Please bring a valid driver’s license or photo ID when picking up a student during the school day.

  • For everyone’s safety, visitors may not leave the main office without a staff escort.

  • All students, staff, and guests are expected to wear their designated ID badges while on campus.

Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping our Mustang community safe, connected, and thriving.

Social Media Social Media

As technology continues to play a central role in our students’ daily lives, we encourage families to stay actively engaged in monitoring phone and device use. Research continues to show that excessive screen time and social media use can impact adolescents’ social and emotional health, leading to increased anxiety, disrupted sleep, and challenges with peer relationships.

We know that online interactions often extend beyond “after-school hours” and can sometimes affect students’ focus, well-being, and relationships during the school day. That’s why our partnership with families is so important. By setting healthy boundaries, fostering open conversations, and supporting positive digital habits, we can help ensure all Mustangs feel safe, connected, and ready to learn.

We’ve recently noticed elevated challenges on social media, so please take a few moments to talk with your child and check their online activity. Your ongoing support and proactiveness make a tremendous difference!

Here’s a helpful resource for families on preventing cyberbullying.
