It's Good To Be "Out Of The Loop"!

As a reminder, our bus loop needs to be kept clear of all vehicles during arrivals and dismissals.

Students getting a ride home should meet their rides on the sidewalk nearest the main parking lot.

Youth Risk Behavior Survey Reminder

The Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) will be administered to all 7th grade students at Hingham Middle School on April 2, 2025. This survey, which is administered every year, is an anonymous questionnaire that asks students a wide variety of questions about health behaviors, including diet, exercise, drug and alcohol use, sexual activity, mental health, violence and safety. The YRBS is designed by the CDC and is also used by the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to collect health data statewide.

The survey is instrumental in shaping health, physical education and counseling curricula and helps the district design programs that meet our students’ unique needs. Data collection is also a requirement when applying for grants that would enable the district to obtain funds to support these important curriculum areas. Survey results help us to monitor the programs that are implemented, and we can compare local results to other districts and the state as a whole.

The YRBS is a voluntary survey in which parents have the right to exempt their child. To preview the survey click on this link

If you would like to exempt your child from taking the survey, please submit the request to me, Derek Smith, by no later than Monday, March 31, 2025 by emailing dsmith@hinghamschools.org

Warrant Articles--HHS-PRS-South Roofs & HHS Field

The Hingham School Committee, Hingham Selectboard and Advisory Committee recently approved several warrant articles that will be brought forth to Town meeting in April. The warrant articles request funds to address needed roof and HVAC replacement at Hingham High School, roof repairs/replacement at PRS and South, and potential turf field replacement at HHS. Please stay tuned for details of an upcoming forum in which HPS will provide an overview of the warrant proposals for interested members of the community.

HEF News

The Hingham Education Foundation is once again launching Hingham Hi5s, an easy and impactful way to thank our incredible HPS faculty and staff.

From teachers to bus drivers, food service workers to custodians, principals to nurses, interventionists to paras…..Who has made a difference in your child's life?

Honor HPS faculty, staff or an administrator today by clicking the link below and submitting a quick and easy $25 donation per nomination. This year the new and improved process allows for more than one Hi5 nomination at a time. HEF board members will then deliver a token of appreciation along with a note of gratitude to the honoree during the week of May 5-9. There is no limit on the number of Hi5s that you can give!

We are very excited about this excellent program that gives Hingham Middle School students the chance to have fun, get outside and experience Track and Field before going to high school. Students will learn new skills and compete against athletes from all over the South Shore. This is also a great opportunity for the HHS athletes to mentor the younger athletes.

We expect up to 200 participants this spring. We would love for them to try as many of these events as possible in this supportive and judgment-free environment.

  • Running events: sprints, mid and distance from 100 M run to 1 mile, relays
  • Long Jump
  • High Jump
  • Throwing: Discus, Javelin and/or Shot Put

MANY THANKS to Hingham Sports Partnership for supporting the program through a grant to offset our startup expenses back in 2021! This truly fits in with the mission of HSP, as they continue to find ways to support Hingham sports.

Registration opens on April 4, 2025
