Letter from Mr. V
Dear Jaguar Community,
I want to start by thanking Donna Farnham, staff member at JES, and her crew of helpers for organizing a successful Holiday Craft Fair this weekend. Beyond adding to the positive spirit of our school community, the event proceeds went to support the 5/6 end of year trip! Thanks also to all who came to take part and, of course, to the many crafty vendors who brought their creations!
I'll keep the gratitude mood going by thanking all of you who have been bringing your students to school on time! Attendance is indeed trending toward greater consistency making for a more enriching and connected experience for kiddos. I also want to correct a miscommunication I made last week; students may enter the building at 7:30, and Courtney begins marking students tardy at 7:50. I know I've been on this thread for several weeks now, and I'll give it a rest next week!
MAP testing will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of this week. As I've mentioned before, we really hang our hats on data like this here at school. This assessment, along with classroom assessments, and progress monitoring data are what we use to determine if our efforts are making a difference for your students. We meet weekly to gauge growth and adjust instruction and support in a very intentional way. Help us to get an accurate picture of your child's academic performance by ensuring that they get a good nights sleep and solid nutrition. Maybe throw in a word of encouragement to do their best on the test as they head out the door or into the school!
Lastly, I am happy to announce that we will be holding a winter festival (still to be named) this year! We're still working out the details, but in late January or early February, students and staff will venture up to the hilly VSU campus for sledding, cocoa, and a healthy dose of joy! Stay tuned, and we hope to see you there!
Kind regards,
Dane VanNosdeln
JES Principal
