May 18th-22nd, 2026----LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL

Dear MES Families,

We are heading into our final week of school, and it is certainly starting with a BANG as we monitor the forecasted severe weather moving into our area. In order to keep all students, staff, and families safe, school will dismiss early at 1:00 PM tomorrow, Monday, May 18th. Our goal is to ensure everyone gets home safely before the storm increases in strength.

Due to the weather concerns, this change does impact our 6th Grade Promotion Ceremony that was originally scheduled for Monday evening at 7:00 PM. We will notify all 6th grade families tomorrow with the rescheduled date and time.

Our Kindergarten Promotion will still take place on Tuesday, May 19th at 2:00 PM, and we look forward to celebrating our youngest Bulldogs!

Please also join us on Wednesday, May 20th for our annual MES BBQ. Lunches will begin at 11:00 AM with Kindergarten, followed by the remaining grade levels according to the schedule shared below.

That afternoon, our K-2 FUN DAY will take place from 1:00–3:00 PM at the high school football field. We are excited for a fun-filled afternoon to celebrate an amazing school year!

The last day of school is Thursday, May 21st, with an early dismissal at 12:10 PM. Please note that no lunch will be served that day.

As I wrap up my second year serving as principal of Marysville Elementary, I simply want to say thank you. Thank you for trusting us to care for, support, and educate your child each day. It has truly been a blessing, and I will miss every single one of your children until we welcome them back in August.

I hope your family enjoys a wonderful summer together filled with time spent making memories, participating in activities and camps, visiting the library, relaxing, and enjoying all that summer has to offer.

THANK YOU for your continued support of Marysville Elementary. Have a safe and wonderful summer!

With gratitude,

Janine Doebele

Principal

We decided to tap into our students' inner lawmakers this week by asking one simple question: "If you could create or change any school rule, what would it be?" While we might not be ready to trade our desks for diving boards just yet, the results were hilariously ambitious! The consensus suggests a significant shift in school infrastructure—specifically, transforming math into a "pool party" and replacing the playground with a permanent water park. The "Kindergarten Parliament" also voted unanimously for a diet consisting strictly of ice cream, candy, and soda, alongside a strict "no chairs" policy to allow for more spontaneous dancing. While we probably can’t let them bring their dogs to school or head home whenever the mood strikes, we certainly admire their vision for a work-free, outside-all-day lifestyle!

Nemaha Marshall Electric Visit to MES! Nemaha Marshall Electric Visit to MES!

A huge thank you to Nemaha-Marshall Electric Cooperative Association, Inc. for visiting Marysville Elementary School today! Our students had a fantastic time learning all about the vital role of a lineman and, most importantly, how to stay safe around electricity.

It was an eye-opening experience for the kids to see the gear up close and hear firsthand what it takes to keep our lights on. We truly appreciate the cooperative’s commitment to our community and for inspiring our future generation of safety-conscious citizens! ⚡️🏗️

Kinder/Senior Walk Kinder/Senior Walk

Little Steps, Big Dreams: The MES Senior-Kindergarten Walk!

Today was a day of full circles and big smiles at the football field! Our MES Kindergartners headed down to meet the Class of 2026 for a truly special tradition.

Watching our youngest students pair up with our graduating seniors to walk the field together was a beautiful reminder of how far our students come during their time here. Whether they were holding hands or sharing stories, the bond between the "littles" and the "bigs" was pure magic.

The Tradition Continues...

After the field walk, the seniors made their way back to the halls where it all began.

Summer Break Ideas Summer Break Ideas

As summer break begins, I want to take a moment to share warm wishes and a few helpful tips and resources to support your child’s well-being over the break. Summer is a valuable time for students to rest, recharge, and enjoy more flexible days, but it can also bring changes in routine that may impact mood, behavior, and emotional regulation. Maintaining some structure can be very helpful—simple routines like consistent bedtimes, regular meals, daily reading, and limited but intentional screen time can support a smoother transition throughout the summer months.

Encouraging outdoor play, family time, and hands-on activities such as sports, cooking, building projects, journaling, or creative expression can help children stay engaged and emotionally balanced. It is also important to continue checking in with your child emotionally. Simple conversations like “What was the best part of your day?” or “What’s something that felt hard today?” can go a long way in helping children feel heard and supported.

If your family is looking for additional support or enrichment, the Marysville Public Library is having free summer reading programs and activities, and our community offers summer events, camps, and youth programs that encourage learning and social connection. If your child receives school-based supports, continuing to practice coping strategies, social skills, or academic skills in small, natural ways can help maintain growth over the summer.

For families who may need additional mental health support, many local providers offer summer availability, and crisis or support resources remain accessible if needed. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions, concerns, or would like guidance in connecting with resources.

Thank you for your partnership throughout the school year. We are grateful to support your children, and we wish you a safe, restful, and meaningful summer filled with connection, growth, and joy

25-26 MARYSVILLE ELEMENTARY STUDENT/PARENT HANDBOOK 25-26 MARYSVILLE ELEMENTARY STUDENT/PARENT HANDBOOK

Our Parent Handbook is an important resource that outlines the expectations, policies, and procedures for the school year. It includes information about academics, attendance, behavior expectations, communication, and ways families can stay engaged in their child’s learning.

We ask that families review the handbook occasionally so that everyone is familiar with our school guidelines. Please continue to reference it throughout the year whenever questions arise. Working together, we can ensure a safe, supportive, and successful school experience for every child.

Creativity

We follow the three R's in our building.

Be Ready

Be Responsible

Be Respectful

AND Be Safe

Character Strong – Creativity (Week 2)

Sometimes Creativity does not come easy, even people who use art in their career run into trouble finding a Creative spark. This can be a sign that you a lot going on in your life and your brain can’t keep up. That’s why it is always important to listen to your body and find a way to be well and take care of yourself. This can be done by taking time to do something you enjoy. When we take care of our brains and bodies, we can find even more Creativity!

Marysville Community Events Marysville Community Events
