Issue 5: August 29, 2025
Thank you to our fifth graders for sharing about themselves through this artwork that decorates our hallway.
Principal's Message
REMINDER - THERE IS NO SCHOOL MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 1ST.
This week brought cool breezes and blue skies. Fall is in the air for sure! While the outside had bright sunshine, inside Goshen Lane, the students were shining brightly, too! First graders were building teen numbers, 5th graders with dissecting owl pellets, and more. Thank you to our teachers for giving our students such fun and engaging lessons.
🎉 SHOUT OUT TO OUR FAMILIES!!!! 🎉 One week ago, I shared that we had 126 students left who needed parents to update their Parent Portal in Infinite Campus. As of today, we only have 15 students left! That is absolutely incredible and so appreciated. If you are part of that final group, please be sure to to give your updates by next Friday, Sept. 5th. We need this important health and safety info for our students. Please see farther below for directions.
🎉 SHOUT OUT TO OUR STAFF!!!! 🎉 Our kitchen staff is off to such a wonderful start that some of our own Goshen Lane staff recognized our new head cook, Mr. Coleman, for his hard work.
"Shout-Out to Mr. Coleman (cook) for being so patient and caring with the new students/Kindergartners through the cafeteria lines. He even took a moment to hold up and label each food item for a confused student at breakfast one morning :) " - Mrs. Dial, school psychologist
"Mr. Coleman has been helping me resolve a couple of things and his heart is 100% in doing what is best for all students. I appreciate you and your team SO much Mr. Coleman!" - Leslie Cellar, school counselor
There are a lot of illnesses in the public right now. Please be sure to remind your child to wash hands when you come home from errands and playing with others, drink lots of water, eat fruits and vegetables, and get good rest. Let's do all we can to stay healthy together.
Please enjoy your long weekend. Looking forward to a great September ahead! We will see your child next on TUESDAY, September 2nd.

What Is Your Child Learning This Year?
Each teacher has shared with you the curriculum information for your child to know what they will be learning this year. We believe it is important for families to know about their child's school day. If you do not think you have received this information, please reach out to your child's teacher.
SEPTEMBER IS ATTENDANCE AWARENESS MONTH!
Dear Families,
Starting strong in September makes a big difference for the whole school year. Research shows that students who miss just 1–2 days in the first month are much more likely to become chronically absent later on. That’s why we’re working together to build positive attendance habits now!
When students come to school every day they:
build routines that help them feel confident
stay connected with friends and teachers
have the best chance to succeed academically and socially
This year, as an All-Star District in the Stay in the Game! Attendance Network we are celebrating Attendance Awareness Month as a part of our campaign. Each week, we’ll celebrate attendance with fun activities, and students will have chances to:
- Win prizes sponsored by the Columbus Crew
- Be featured on Stay in the Game! social media
- Most importantly, we want you to know that we are here for you. If your child faces challenges getting to school, please reach out. Together, we can find solutions—because showing up today builds a stronger tomorrow. Inspiring Learners. Building Futures.
Thank you for being our partners in helping every student become an Attendance All-Star!
Do your part in ensuring you get to school on time and ready to learn! If you haven't done so already, take the pledge!
Absence Reporting
As a result of House Bill 410, student attendance is calculated in hours. This includes absences that have been identified as both excused and unexcused by the school, as well as planned absences. Being late or tardy to school does calculate into the total hours absent.
Medical excuses from a doctor can be submitted to Emily McFadden, our school secretary, through email (mcfaddene@gjps.org) or sending in a paper copy.
If your child is going to be absent from school, please email Ms. McFadden at mcfaddene@gjps.org AND email your student's teacher. Or, you may call to notify the school office attendance line at 614-478-5580 prior to 8:00 a.m.
Girls on the Run Registration is Open!
Girls on the Run inspires individuals of all abilities to discover, build, and grow their self-confidence. Together, they experience a sense of belonging and connection as a team. Volunteer coaches facilitate lessons that blend physical activity with life skill development, including managing emotions, fostering friendships, and expressing empathy. At the end of the season, the team completes a Community Impact Project and a 5K together, which provides a tangible sense of accomplishment and sets a confident mindset into motion.

Fee Payments through Infinite Campus
Dear Gahanna-Jefferson Families,
We want to inform you of an important update regarding the Infinite Campus Payment Portal. Infinite Campus transitioned to “Stripe” as its new merchant service provider. This change affects how online payments are processed for food service accounts and student fees (including instructional, athletic and technology fees).
For the 2025-26 school year, each family will need to update their payment information and re-enter any recurring payments, as your previous data will not carry over from last year.
1. Add Payment Method(s)
Payment methods are used for both food service and school fees. Your current payment information will not be transferred. For security reasons, you must manually re-enter your payment methods.
You can add:
Credit/debit cards
Bank accounts
To validate bank accounts:
Automatic Validation: Log into your bank to confirm.
Manual Validation: A 24-48 hour delay for confirmation.
Steps to Add a Payment Method:
Go to "Food Service" in the Infinite Campus menu.
Click on "My Accounts."
Select the "Payment Methods" box.
Click the blue "New" button, enter your info, and hit "Save."
2. Re-establish Recurring Food Service Payments
Recurring payments will not carry over for security reasons. You must reconfigure them using your newly established payment method.
Steps to Set Up Recurring Payments:
Click on "Food Service" in the Infinite Campus menu.
Select "My Accounts."
Click the "Recurring Payments" box.
Under "Food Service," click "View."
Set your frequency, amount and payment method.
Click "Save."
For more detailed instructions, including screenshots, please see the attached document. There are no other changes to the way you experience online payments.
We appreciate your attention to this important update. If you have any questions or need help, please fill out the Infinite Campus Help Form.
