Principal's Message
Assalamu Alaikum!
Dear NISL Families,
We are excited to announce the upcoming Quarter 1 Student Recognition Awards! As shared previously, our Honor Roll and Principal’s List program has been updated to better align with national academic standards and to prepare students for long-term success.
Beginning this school year, students in Grades 4–12 will be recognized based on their overall GPA, following a system consistent with the National Elementary, Junior, and High School Honor Societies. This approach allows students to become familiar with the GPA system early on and encourages consistent academic excellence across subjects.
For our Grades 1–3 students, recognition will continue to be based on letter grades. We are also pleased to introduce a new recognition category, Merit Roll, which celebrates students who are demonstrating solid achievement and continued growth! Here’s the updated awards structure:
Principal’s List: 4.0 GPA (Grades 4–12) or all A’s (Grades 1–3)
Honor Roll: 3.5 GPA (Grades 4–12) or all A’s and B’s (Grades 1–3)
(NEW) Merit Roll: 3.0 GPA (Grades 4–12) or a mix of A’s and B’s with no more than one C (Grades 1–3)
Please keep in mind that high school students are recognized after the Fall semester ends, which will be on December 19, 2025.
We are also thrilled to share that our first Barakah Store, opened on November 5, was a great success! Students had an opportunity to redeem their Barakah Bucks that they earned through positive behavior and following our Behavior Expectation Matrix. Our 4th grade students showed amazing teamwork by pooling their Barakah Bucks together to redeem a class field trip reward!
The Barakah Store, part of our Ci3T framework, helps reinforce positive behavior and responsibility while encouraging students to save and make thoughtful choices. To keep the excitement going, we invite parents to donate new items such as toys, games, school supplies, or small accessories that may be appealing to students for future Barakah Store openings. Your support helps motivate students to continue earning Barakah Bucks and strengthens our positive school culture.
Jazakum Allahu Khairan for your ongoing partnership in nurturing both academic excellence and strong character in our students!
Sincerely,
Aisha Blagaia
