โญ PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE โญ โญ PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE โญ

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week we celebrated Public Education Week โ€” a time to recognise the strength, diversity, and achievements of NSW public education. The theme this year was โ€˜Ignite Your Potentialโ€™, which resonates strongly with us at Regents Park Public School. We know that every one of our students has the potential to achieve great things, and we are committed to supporting them to learn, grow, and thrive.

To acknowledge Education Week, our school enjoyed a week of themed activities:

  • Motivational Monday โ€“ Mindful activities

  • Teamwork Tuesday โ€“ Team-building games and a World of Maths incursion

  • Welcome Wednesday โ€“ Multicultural mufti day, a whole school assembly, open classrooms, and a family picnic

  • Theatrical Thursday โ€“ Creative expression and performance activities

  • Fitness Friday โ€“ Rotational sports games and active fun

Thank you to Mrs Petrella, Ms Thomas, Ms Martyn and Ms Panagopols for organising a fun and engaging week.

100 Days of Kindergarten

Last week, our Kindergarten students reached a very special milestone โ€” 100 days of school!

To celebrate, our Kindergarten teachers, Ms Thomas and Ms Martyn, organised a fun-filled day including a piรฑata, cupcakes (a big thank you to Mrs Jodie White!), traditional party games and a dress-up activity where students came dressed as what they want to be when they grow up. It was a wonderful celebration and a wonderful reminder of how far our youngest learners have come!

Aussie Bush Camp

Forty Stage 3 students recently attended Aussie Bush Camp, a 3-day overnight excursion at Kincumber, NSW. The students participated in a variety of exciting outdoor activities and had the opportunity to build independence, resilience, and teamwork.

A huge thank you to the dedicated staff who attended and supported the students: Ms Mourad, Mrs Austin, Mrs Collins, and Mr Tony.

Colour Run โ€“ Coming Soon!

Donโ€™t forget โ€” our Annual Colour Run is happening on Wednesday, 18 September!

Be sure to register for your chance to win some fantastic prizes, including a $500 prize credit.

Book Week โ€“ Week 5

Book Week kicks off in Week 5, starting August 18. We have a variety of activities planned, including:

  • Book Fair

  • Book Scavenger Hunt

  • Character Dress-Up Parade

Stay tuned for more information.

Farewell to Terry Herd

Last week, we said farewell to a cherished member of our school community โ€” Mrs Terry Herd, who has retired after many years of dedicated service at Regents Park Public School.

Terry has worked in a range of roles over the years, including the front office, library administration, and as an SLSO. Her hard work, kindness, and commitment to our school have made a lasting impact.

We wish Terry all the very best in her retirement โ€” she is already dearly missed!

As always if you have any concerns or feedback, please come up to the school and see me.

โœจ Primary Principal Recognition โœจ โœจ Primary Principal Recognition โœจ

On Friday 1st August we celebrated Primary Principalโ€™s Day which is a special occasion recognising and celebrating the leadership, dedication and impact of primary school principals. This day acknowledges the pivotal role that principals play in building strong foundations and inspiring and shaping the educational experiences of all students, supporting teachers and fostering strong school communities.

We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to our Principal Mrs Landon! We appreciate the work, vision and commitment that you demonstrate in creating a safe and inclusive learning environment where our students can thrive academically, socially and emotionally. Thank you for your dedication in supporting and empowering all staff members.

Happy Primary Principalsโ€™ Day from all staff and students at Regents Park Public School- your leadership makes all the difference!

๐Ÿซ Public Education Week 2025 ๐Ÿซ ๐Ÿซ Public Education Week 2025 ๐Ÿซ

This week we celebrated Public Education Week 2025 (4โ€“8 August). This yearโ€™s theme is โ€˜Ignite your potentialโ€™. This is a time to come together and celebrate the strength, diversity and achievements of NSW public education โ€” where every student is supported to learn, grow and thrive.

At Regents Park Public School this week, students had the opportunity to participate in several activities that allowed us to open our doors, inspire curiosity and celebrate the achievements and partnerships that help every learner succeed.

On Monday students participated in mindfulness activities.

On Tuesday students worked collaboratively with others during the Mathsโ€™ Incursion solving hands on maths problems. Thank you to Mrs Arevalo for organising this event!

On Wednesday the school celebrated Multicultural day with an Assembly, open classrooms and multicultural picnic lunch with families. Over 50 families joined us on this day. At the assembly, students showcased their talents in singing, dance and Public Speaking as well as sharing a part of their culture by wearing traditional cultural clothes. One student from each class was also awarded the โ€˜Helping Handโ€™ Award for their commitment to achieving their learning goals and being a role model to others.

On Thursday students participated in drama activities โ€“ some classes even made puppets!

On Friday students participated in fitness activities with their stage.

Thank you to the Multicultural Day Committee for organising this event and thank you to the school community for your participation. What a wonderful week we had!

Stage 3 Camp - The Great Aussie Bush Camp

Stage 3 students had an unforgettable three days at the Great Aussie Bush Camp. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to step out of their comfort zones, strengthen friendships and build confidence.

Students enjoyed a variety of activities, including tree climbing, Lost Island, wall climbing, power fan, archery and the great swing, which was a clear favourite for many. Evenings were filled with fun too, with campfires (complete with marshmallows!) and a movie night, creating memories to last a lifetime.

A big thank you to our dedicated staff - Mrs Austin, Mrs Collins and Mr Tony for their support throughout camp and to our families for helping make this experience possible. Weโ€™re so proud of our Stage 3 students for representing our school with courage, resilience and teamwork.

Refugee Council of Australia Presentation โ€“ A Powerful Learning Experience

We were honoured to host a very special assembly in partnership with the Refugee Council of Australia (RCOA), made possible through the generous support of the Cath Leary Foundation.

The Cath Leary Social Justice Foundation was established by Cathโ€™s family to honour her legacy as a tireless advocate for social justice. This presentation marked the 10-year anniversary of Cathโ€™s passing, and we were privileged to welcome Jen Leary, Trustee of the Foundation and Cathโ€™s sister, who expressed her joy at seeing students benefit from this important initiative.

The Refugee Council of Australia is the national peak body representing refugees, people seeking asylum, and those who support them. As a non-profit and non-government organisation, RCOA advocates for fair and humane treatment of those seeking safety in Australia.

Our guest speaker was Abang Othow, a refugee who shared her moving personal story. At just five years old, Abang fled her home country of Sudan due to conflict. She arrived in Australia alone at the age of 18, full of hope for a new beginning. With the support of a womenโ€™s shelter and local community organisations, she was able to rebuild her life. Abang is now writing a memoir, sharing her powerful story of survival and resilience.

The session was enlightening and deeply moving, encouraging empathy, understanding, and important reflection. We were incredibly proud of our students for their thoughtful and heartfelt questions, including:
โ€œWhat helped you keep going?โ€ and
โ€œHow do you feel about the wars and conflicts happening around the world today?โ€

This was a truly valuable learning experienceโ€”one that left a lasting impression on all who attended.
