SMS E-News

Dear SMS Families,

We've had a fantastic start to the school year, filled with smiles and laughter! It’s wonderful to see our campus buzzing with joy as we establish routines and dive into the curriculum. Our dedicated staff has worked hard to ensure this will be our best year yet, and I’m eager to see all the amazing achievements our students will make.

Just a reminder: our Open House/Meet the Teacher event will be held on September 16 from 5:30-7:00 PM, with the gym doors opening at 5:15 PM. This is a great opportunity for you to see what your child has been working on in the classroom. I’m looking forward to meeting all of you and am excited about the year ahead with your children!

We’ve kicked off our Volleyball, Cross Country, and Football seasons, which means Pep Rallies are starting up this fall! Our first Pep Rally will be on September 11 at 3:15 PM in the gym, and we’d love for you to join us and show your school spirit. The theme for this rally is red, white, and blue as we honor our veterans. Everyone is welcome to attend—just be sure to check in at the front office and get a visitor badge.

Also, don’t forget that Picture Day is coming up on September 9!

I look forward to a great year with your children.

Respectfully,

Mrs. Perez

Our very own Coach Chris Gomez had major surgery this week with an unknown diagnosis. Members of our community along with the Attack Life Sloan Foundation have set up a fundraiser to help offset the upcoming significant medical costs. 100 percent of the donations will go directly to the Gomez family. All fees will be covered by the Foundation. Please donate any amount to serve the Gomez family. Thank you.

Parents, feel free to join us for the Pep Rally! Please see bell schedule as it is different than our every day schedule.

The Sunnyvale Middle School and Sunnyvale High School Yearbooks are in one combined book.

Parents,

Please help us enforce the following with your students by supporting our district and campus policies.

• Dress Code
• NO Food, Gum or Drinks allowed in classrooms!! Students will be asked to leave food and drinks behind before leaving the cafeteria. NO GUM ALLOWED IN THE BUILDING AT SMS! Students are allowed to have a water bottle in the classroom.
• No phones or smart devices/watches allowed for use around SMS.

Welcome to your BRAND NEW PTA exclusively for the students, teachers and parents of Sunnyvale Middle School and High School!

In order to meet the demands of our growing Student Body and Teacher populations in the school district, we have formed a brand new PTA that focuses solely on the Middle School and High School campuses. When you join this PTA, 100% of your funds will be used exclusively on events, engagements, and activities at these two schools.

If you are a parent or teacher reading this, we want you to know that we see you and hear you. We know that you are emotionally invested in the children at these schools. And we know that we can only exist as an organization with your support, not just financially, but also emotionally, spiritually, and physically. To be frank, we NEED you.

We are extraordinarily grateful for every single dollar you can give, every single hour you can volunteer, every single item you can donate to our organization. We are just getting started, but we truly hope that you will join us on this journey and help us to grow this PTA into something that will reflect the standard of excellence we have come to expect from our Sunnyvale School District.

Thank you and God Bless You.

Chelsea Nowell
President of Sunnyvale MS and HS PTA
