The AVIS Automata 5826 Robotics Team had another successful year at the middle and high school level. Quinton Felske and Brett Schaefer shared highlights of the season and demonstrated what their robots were built to do this year. 5826 ranked 6th out of 54 teams at their second tournament of the year and won the Gracious Professionalism Award for a second consecutive year. The team hopes to host a tournament at the high school within the next year to help further grow the program across our District. This video provides more information.

Communicating with the Board (if applicable, click on the report heading for greater detail)
Chad Trowbridge, Business Manager, provided an update on the current enrollment numbers. The District continues to monitor the class sizes for Hillcrest and Parkview Kindergarten, Southview and Stillson 1st Grade, and Halmstad and Southview 2nd Grade.
Chad Trowbridge, Business Manager, provided an update on the state budget. The 2025-27 Wisconsin budget provides a $325 per pupil revenue limit increase in both years, adding about $1.5 million annually to our district’s revenue capacity. Special education reimbursement will rise to 42% in 2025-26 and 45% in 2026-27, potentially adding $800,000–$1.2 million per year. Additional funding for transportation and early literacy is also included.
However, there is no increase in general state aid or catch-up funding, which will likely increase pressure on local property taxes. It is likely that we will need to go to an operational referendum again in 2027.
Jeff Holmes, Superintendent of Schools, provided an overview of the student handbook revisions for the upcoming school year.
*Please note that the above information is provided pending the approval of Board minutes at their next regularly scheduled meeting.
