Starting Hearts: Life-Saving Skills (Grades 4–6)

Our 4th through 6th graders are participating in Starting Hearts, a program designed to empower students to recognize an emergency and take immediate action. This age-appropriate, hands-on curriculum focuses on awareness, confidence, and real-life readiness. Students learn the importance of calling 911 immediately, recognize the signs of cardiac arrest, and perform hands-only CPR. They also build AED awareness—understanding what an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is, where AEDs are located in our school, and how vital they are in saving lives. We are proud to provide our upper elementary students with skills that can truly make a life-saving difference!

From DCSD: Date Change for Last Day of the 25/26 School Year From DCSD: Date Change for Last Day of the 25/26 School Year

⭐Dear DCSD Parents and Guardians,

We have some exciting changes coming to the Highlands Ranch High School, Mountain Vista High School, and ThunderRidge High School feeders next year. As you have likely heard, we are consolidating six elementary schools into three, and we are moving sixth grade to the middle school level.

In order to help our teachers and staff get ready for these transitions, elementary and middle schools in the Highlands Ranch, Mountain Vista, and ThunderRidge feeder systems will end the current school year a day earlier than scheduled. The last day of school for the 2025-2026 school year will be Thursday, May 28, instead of Friday, May 29.

This is only for the elementary and middle schools listed below. Our high schools will remain on the original academic calendar and will not end a day early.

Highlands Ranch HS Feeder Schools

Cresthill Middle School
Acres Green Elementary
Arrowwood Elementary
Cougar Run Elementary
Eagle Ridge Elementary
Fox Creek Elementary
Lone Tree Elementary

Mountain Vista HS Feeder Schools

Mountain Ridge Middle School
Bear Canyon Elementary
Copper Mesa Elementary
Heritage Elementary
Northridge Elementary
Sand Creek Elementary
Summit View Elementary

ThunderRidge HS Feeder Schools

Ranch View Middle School
Coyote Creek Elementary
Eldorado Elementary
Roxborough Primary and Intermediate Schools
Saddle Ranch Elementary
Stone Mountain Elementary
Trailblazer Elementary

Thank you for making note of this change to the academic calendar. This extra day will greatly help our teachers and staff manage this transition, including packing up their classrooms and coordinating moves to new buildings, where applicable. Should you have any questions about this date change, please contact your school principal.

Sincerely,

Douglas County School District
