NES Parent Newsletter 05/04/26
May 4, 2026

Dear NES Families,
We have an exciting and important week ahead at our school!
Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week, and we encourage all families to take a moment to recognize the incredible work our teachers do each day. A simple note or message can go a long way in showing appreciation for the dedication, care, and heart they pour into supporting our growing learners.
We will also begin state testing across all grade levels. Students receiving accommodations will participate in small group testing throughout the week. Please note the following schedule for ELA testing:
- 3rd Grade: Tuesday, May 5th
- 4th Grade: Wednesday, May 6th
- 5th Grade: Thursday, May 7th
Kindergarten through 2nd grade will also be testing throughout the week. It is very important that students arrive at school on time each day, well-rested, and ready to give their maximum effort. Please note that students who check out during the assessment will not be able to return to the assessment. Please plan any appointments accordingly.
This past week brought many exciting opportunities for our students:
- Our 5th graders visited Yearling Middle School as part of their transition to 6th grade. We are proud to share they received high compliments for their behavior and politeness!
- We welcomed the OHS Jazz Band, who performed for our 5th graders and shared information about joining band next year.
- On Friday, our 3rd graders visited IRSC to explore their science labs.
- Grade levels celebrated their PBIS Mini Bash events for eligible students.
We are looking forward to one final PBIS celebration—Water Day at the end of Quarter 4. Students will begin Monday with a clean slate, so please encourage them to demonstrate positive behavior and earn this exciting reward!
Mark your calendars:
- Friday, May 8th: First Grade APTT / Mother’s Day Tea
(Please contact your child’s teacher for additional details.)
We are excited for our upcoming end-of-year APTT events as we celebrate the growth and achievements of our students alongside our families.
Thank you for your continued support!
We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! 🌟
