PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Friday, May 22nd
First, I am proud to announce that our Walkathon and all the fundraisers leading up to it raised over $10,000 for the Make-a-Wish Foundation! This is an extremely generous amount, and I am both overwhelmed and grateful for the generosity of the Patton community! THANK YOU for every dollar donated, every T-shirt and hot dog purchased, and for coming together to support such a wonderful cause! We enjoyed seeing so many of you at the Walkathon getting your steps in for such a meaningful purpose. YOU ARE AMAZING!
This short week was extra memorable due to our fabulous 5th Grade musical "The Wizard of Oz"! Our fifth graders have been working on this musical for many months and their hard work and effort certainly paid off! From the on stage performances to the hustle of the stage crew and the technical know how of the lighting and sound techs, the heart and soul they put into it was on show for all to see! I'm sure I was not the only one with a tissue in hand on occasion! Thank you to Mr. Whitaker and the 5th Grade teachers for all the time, effort and love they pour into this show and into the students! What an amazing memory for them as they head on down the (yellow brick) road to Thomas!
Speaking of graduates, it was wonderful to see so many seniors come back to Patton on Tuesday to walk the halls one last time before they embark on their new adventure as young adults! This is such a fun tradition and it's always so touching to see how connected so many of the students are to Patton! It was fun to watch their surprised looks as they took a stroll down our new construction area, and to see their genuine delight as they realized this final stretch of their senior walk took them to the kindergarten hallway. Seeing our youngest panthers celebrate and high five the seniors was precious. A true testament to the special community we have here! Thank you to Mr. Morkert and Mrs. Anderle for organizing this each year!
I hope you all have a wonderful 4 day weekend!
Ellie Chin
STAFFING UPDATES FOR 26-27 SCHOOL YEAR (NEW POST!)
Mrs. O’Brien will be taking her exceptional talents to Olive next year. This is bittersweet for us because she has been such a valued member of our team, but we know she is going to “fly” at Olive as she sheds her Panther blue and becomes an Olive Owl!
Thank you Mrs. O’Brien for 6 wonderful years! We wish her all the success as she lands at Olive and we have no doubt that she will be a great addition to their nest!
FAREWELL, DEAR FRIENDS (NEW POST)
IMPORTANT: END OF YEAR MEDICATION PICK UP AND DISPOSAL (ONGOING POST!)
As we wrap up another school year, all medications and supplies MUST be picked up from the health office by the end of the school day on Thursday, June 4, 2026.
If you have medication in the health office, you will receive an email from the school nurse with detailed instructions regarding pick up.
We do NOT store any medications over the summer. Any medication remaining after June 4, 2026 will be properly disposed of in accordance with Food and Drug Administration Safe Disposal of Medications guidance at the Arlington Heights Police Department.
For any questions, please contact our nurse, Mrs Sarah Klancnik.
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL LINE UPS (NEW POST!)
To start the day off right on the last day of school (Thursday, June 4th) we would like to have all of our panthers line up with their class outdoors on the blacktop. This will be a great opportunity for some fun last day photos with friends and teachers. Staff will be outside from 8:50am to greet students for the final time this school year.
We encourage any families that plan to stay to take pictures to walk or bike as parking is a challenge. For those of you who will be driving, please do not park in the Patton parking lot - please park on the surrounding streets and be mindful of the No Parking signage to be courteous to our neighbors.
We can’t wait to celebrate our last day and hope to see many of you there!
PETS AT PICKUP AND DROP-OFF (NEW POST!)
If you are dropping off or picking up through the car line and must bring your dog with you, we ask that you please make sure your dog is secured when the door is opened, so your dog does not exit the vehicle. We appreciate your understanding that we have students with allergies and some students who are afraid of unfamiliar dogs. It is helpful for all traffic volunteers and staff who are helping students enter and exit vehicles if everyone's dogs are kept a reasonable distance from the door.
FIELD DAY - TUES., JUNE 2nd (2nd POST!)
A few important reminders to help your child prepare for the day:
Wear comfortable clothing and appropriate shoes for outdoor activities
Bring a hat if desired for sun protection
Apply sunscreen at home before school
Bring a refillable water bottle—there will be a water station available, but extra hydration is encouraged
Students will participate in two water relay events and may get wet. If your child is uncomfortable about being wet, feel free to pack a change of clothes.
As you arrive, you’ll notice equipment set up across the field in preparation for Field Day. Please remind your child not to touch any of the items. Thank you for your help!
Volunteer For Field Day!
Field Day will take place on Tuesday, June 2nd, from 9am-12pm. If you would like to volunteer, please sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080844A5A62AA13-63973749-patton
Friendly reminder - this is for current Patton students. Volunteers are asked not to bring younger siblings to the event. Please also be prepared to help run a station, hand out water, help get students from one event to the other, and support our teachers! We really value everyone who signs up for this event, so please come prepared to work! :)
Please note: Only parents who are volunteering should be present at Field Day. We appreciate your understanding that while you are a familiar adult to your child and their friends, you are not a familiar adult to all students or to all other parent volunteers. Field Day Volunteers will be identifiable through their name badges and common wristbands. These are prepared in advance for all parents who sign up to volunteer through the Sign Up Genius. We welcome and appreciate your participation as a volunteer, but ask that you refrain from just stopping by to watch.
LOST & FOUND (2nd POST!)
115 items of clothing, 12 water bottles, 10 hats, 15 pairs of gloves...and a partridge in a pear tree!!! Believe it or not, that's how many items we currently have in our Lost and Found! We were able to reunite 3 labeled items with their owners.
All items will be outside at drop off and pickup for the next couple of weeks so please take some time to come and have a look or remind your students to come and have a look during the day (we can't promise that it will always look as immaculate as these photos though!) 😃
INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM AND PTA MEETING - TUES., MAY 26th (FINAL POST!)
On Tuesday, May 26th, our PTA Meeting will begin at 7:30pm in the Patton Commons. Prior to the meeting you are invited to join us at 7:00 pm for an informational overview of the Instructional Program that will be joining Patton Elementary School for the 2026–27 school year. Dr. Brian Kaye, Superintendent, Mrs. Diane Kaffka, Assistant Superintendent for Student Services, and Mrs. Ellie Chin, Principal, will share an overview of the Instructional Program, our implementation plans, and how our students and staff will be supported. We look forward to this exciting addition to our school community
