Viking Pride: Red & White Spirit Days

Our Red & White Spirit Days kick off this Friday, January 19! The goal of this initiative is to increase engagement and school spirit among both students and staff! The names of students and staff will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win, weekly. Winners will be announced by Dr. Alexander during the Friday morning announcements.

Parameters for winning:

  • Must be wearing red and white gear if and when your name is called
  • Minimal red and white will not count (i.e shoes, headband etc.)
  • Students/Staff can only WIN once. However, if your name is called and you are not able to collect your prize, you will be able to win again.

Prizes should be picked up from the Principal's office no later than the following school day.

Block 1 Schedule for Friday

Friday's schedule is slightly amended, to follow a Block 1 Day (1-2-3-Viking Compass-5-4). The goal with this schedule is to minimize the need to travel between the North and South Buildings and to maximize instructional time.

Profile of a Viking with Mr. Nate Beebe Profile of a Viking with Mr. Nate Beebe

New this week: Our "Profile of a Viking" video series continues with CTE Teacher (and Illinois Track and Cross Country Coaches Association Coach of the Year!) Nate Beebe on Communication & Collaboration. "So many of our projects require more to be done than what one person can do...Students are given the opportunity to actually work together and work with different people with different backgrounds, different skill sets. They have to learn to collaborate with each other," he says. Watch the episode here.

HF is proud to have hosted this year's "The Dream Continues" Suburban Classic this weekend. As part of Hoops for Hunger, fans were asked to bring non-perishable food items to be donated to the Respond Now Food Pantry in Chicago Heights. NHS Students greeted fans and families as they dropped off their donations, truly making it a day "on", not a day off!
