Mark Your Calendar for Upcoming Community Events!
- Ice Cream Social: on Friday September 5th, the PTA is hosting their annual Ice Cream Social from 6-8 pm on the playground. The ice cream and music are free. The event is a great opportunity to meet your children's friends along with their families. We are accepting donations of bottled water, juice drinks and individual chips.
- Heights Homecoming Parade: Join us as we march in the Heights Homecoming Parade on September 12th. We will be celebrating 100 years of Heights High with a Mardi Gras Party theme. Student council will be helping decorate our parent float and all student participants will get party masks. We are asking that participating families complete a permission form for their students and we will meet at Fairfax Elementary at 5:00 to start the parade. The parade ends at the high school around 6:00pm Help us celebrate Heights High!
- Father's Walk/Donuts with Dads: on September 18th we will participate in the Cuyahoga County Fatherhood Initiative's yearly Fathers Walk. From 8-9 am we will have donuts, juice and coffee for all of the fathers or father figures (grandfather, uncles, step-fathers, or older brothers) who bring their students to school on the 18th. Weather permitting, the event will take place on the playground. We always have a great turnout and hope you can join us!
Attendance: Please make sure that your students arrive prior to 8:45 for the start of school. Student absences can negatively impact student learning so we need your child at school every day. We will continue to have weekly attendance raffles where students with perfect attendance can win a prize. Our school is also planning a September perfect attendance challenge so help your child start the year strong!
Picture Day: Picture day is September 15th. I have linked the order information below.
PTA: PTA was able to select a new slate of officers on Wednesday. I would like to Thanks Ms. Williams for accepting the presidency. I will continue as the vice president. Ms. Avolio has agreed to be the treasurer and Ms. Mills is our secretary. We are still looking for co-officers to support each position so please let me know at the Ice Cream Social if you are able to support our program. The PTA helps sponsor community building activities and the book fairs so the work is an important component of our school program.
