August Update
Glasscock County ISD

Bearkat Families,
How is summer already coming to an end? We hope your time with your kiddos has been filled with laughter, adventure, and countless core memories. As we prepare for the 2026–2027 school year, we want to begin by welcoming each of our students back to GCISD. This is going to be our best school year yet! Throughout the summer, our staff has been hard at work preparing every detail to ensure each student has a safe, positive, and engaging learning experience.
From fresh classrooms and campus improvements to lesson planning, staff development, and exciting opportunities for students, we are ready to make this an unforgettable year. We are grateful for the trust you place in us each day and look forward to partnering with our families as we continue to grow, learn, and achieve excellence together. We can't wait to see our Bearkats back on campus!
It's a great day to be a Bearkat!
Proud Superintendent,
Mallory Marr
Bond Update
Since the last update, you'll notice that construction continues in every corner of the district! We kindly ask everyone to be mindful of the heavy equipment and construction crews as you travel through or around school property.
Here's a look at what is currently underway:
- The building pad is complete for our new addition, which will include a STEM lab, science labs, a library, classrooms, a secure vestibule, and central administration offices. Over the next few weeks, you will begin to see plumbing work underway.
- Demolition of the three homes on North Bryan Street will begin on Monday, August 3. Once the homes are removed, the area will be prepared to serve as Collier Construction's staging site until construction begins on the new parking lot. The area is expected to be cleared by August 17.
- Site preparation continues for our new tennis courts, with the field events area already demolished.
- Demolition of the current tennis courts is now complete, making way for our new Career and Technical Education (Vo-Ag) facility and new field events area. Construction crews will begin work on the Vo-Ag building pad next.
Our goal throughout this process is to minimize disruptions to student programs and activities while keeping each project moving forward safely and efficiently.
It is exciting to see so much progress taking place as we invest in the future of Glasscock County ISD. These projects represent more than new facilities—they are an investment in our students, our staff, and the generations of Bearkats to come. Thank you for your continued patience, flexibility, and support as we build incredible learning opportunities for our school community.
Academic Update
Texas Education Agency (TEA) Accountability Ratings for the 2025–2026 school year are scheduled to be released on August 14. These ratings provide information about district and campus performance based on student achievement, school progress, and closing achievement gaps. Once released, families and community members can view the ratings and additional performance information by visiting TexasSchools.gov. We encourage everyone to review the results and celebrate the hard work of our students and staff while continuing to support our commitment to continuous improvement.
