The Wolfpack Edge

GREETINGS
We hope your week has been filled with opportunities to see God at work -- in your homes, in our classrooms, and throughout our school community. Thank you for the many ways you support our students and help make Western a place where they can learn, grow, and belong.
Next week, on Tuesday, October 20, you’ll receive a link to a parent survey. We’ll also have separate surveys for students and staff so we can hear from across our school community. Please take 4–6 minutes to share your feedback. Our school leadership and Board of Trustees review the results to celebrate what’s going well, identify areas for growth, and make plans for improvement. Your responses help shape those decisions, and we’re grateful for your partnership in strengthening our school.
Campus has been hoppin' lately, with volleyball tonight and concerts on Monday! If you’re joining us for Monday’s Choir Concert at 7 p.m. or Instrumental Concert at 8 p.m., I hope to see you there. Our Event Center has been filling up quickly, so arrive early to find a seat! (Consider that my subtle plug for a new auditorium…)
Blessings,
Dr. Brian Verwolf
Head Administrator
After a very busy Homecoming week, we are embracing our normal chapel schedule once again. Thursday’s chapel will welcome Jen DeJong from Sioux Falls. Jen is the COO of TheHopeLine.com. This faith-based, crisis intervention organization provides a 24/7 chat to all who reach out. While their primary audience is teens, anyone can use the chatline. Jen will use her chapel message to inform the students about TheHopeLine.com and also share stories of people who have been blessed by it, as well as providing hope for students who are struggling with any number of life issues. We are thankful for Jen’s willingness to share this information with all of us. Our Faithpacks will meet after her message.

Professional Learning: October 14
This week we worked on reviewing accreditation requirements and gathering evidence for our accreditation process. This process always serves as a great way to reflect on progress we made and gaps we want to continue to address in our school!
Student Support
At Western Christian High School, we recognize our students’ unique creation and the variety of God-given talents and skills. We know that each student presents a unique combination of such strengths. We believe it is our responsibility to meet students where they are in their journey and equip them with the tools and resources required to exceed their potential. To meet the need, we have a Student Support Team with a variety of resources. Go here to learn more about who to connect with!

WE ARE A LEARNING COMMUNITY
2025 Annual Report
Take a look at our Annual Report! This publication offers an expression GRADITUDE for the incredible support from our learning community, and also gives and update on the future. This piece was fun to put together!
The Western Witness
The Western Witness is a seasonal publication that we distribute to our broader learning community. We share physical copies at the time of publication, and we also have a hub on our website where we archive past editions.
What Helps Students Love Their Christian School?
What helps students truly love their school? Is it the high-quality teaching, the depth of the friendships, the beauty of the campus, or the way faith and learning intersect? Every Christian school leader has pondered these questions, often relying on instinct, observation, or anecdotal feedback. But what if students themselves—across many schools—could tell us, with data to back it up, what actually matters most?
Non-Discrimination Policy
Western Christian High School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, or national or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admission policies, scholarship and loan programs (if any exist), and athletic or other school administered programs.
