October SBS PTO Newsletter

We apologize for the short notice!! The PTO has been very BUSY recently!

** The "Coin Challenge" for the Scholastic Book Fair Teacher's Fund starts this Monday, October 7th! Bring in your Pennies! **

Send in your spare change each day this week, and your student’s classroom or homeroom teacher will get to spend every penny, nickel, dime, quarter, etc. on new books to enhance your child’s reading groups and literacy learning. All students in the top donating class will also get to pick out a free book ($10 and under) from the Book Fair, courtesy of PTO!

Schedule as follows:

Monday 10/7= Pennies

Tuesday 10/8= Nickels

Wednesday 10/9= Dimes

Thursday 10/10= Quarters

Friday 10/11= Anything goes! (all denominations of coins or bills accepted)

Week of October 7th-11th: All School Coin Challenge & distribution of traditional Book Fair paper pamphlets (additional coin challenge details above.)

Monday, October 14th: Book Fair Teacher Preview throughout the day! (come build your classroom library wish lists, optional classroom eWallets, receive a small gift from PTO and a chance to win $100 or $50 Scholastic Dollar Certificate!)

Monday, October 14th - Friday, October 18th: Book Fair will be open 7:15am-2:45pm, with extra evening hours Thursday only (during Parent Teacher Conferences) until 7:00pm. The Book Fair will close on Friday October 18th at NOON, right after lunch hour.

Friday, October 18th: Last Day to shop our in-person fair for up to 40% back to SBS for every dollar spent and use your Teacher Certificate, classroom eWallet or Scholastic Dollars.

Friday, October 18th - Tuesday, November 1st: Extra online book fair shopping for 25% back to SBS for every dollar spent.

This will be the only book fair this school year so get your student's at-home library stocked up with exciting reads!

10% of ALL sales from 5-8pm will go back to the PTO and be used for classroom upgrades this year, like new Smart Boards and Flexible Seating! Help us make dining out mean more!

Join us Friday, October 25 from 5:30-7pm for the 3rd Annual Trunk or Treat, hosted by the SBS PTO, in the back parking lot of the school!

This is a no charge event and will include a DECORATIVE CAKE RAFFLE & BAKE SALE hosted by the Student Council! Raffle tickets purchased at the event will be CASH OR CHECK ONLY, as well as light concessions. Thank you for your understanding!

For our Biggest Fundraiser of the year, we will be having a large festival for All students. There will be a variety of games, activities and snacks. We will have a suggested donation registration of $30 for each child to help us not only offset the cost of the event, but to raise much of the funds we will be using for our fundraising goals this year. Raffle Baskets in the previous year's for the Color Run raffle has been a HUGE hit with the students and a great way to raise funds for the PTO. We will be running a raffle for our Monster Bash this year and we need your help! Any donations are greatly appreciated!! Here are some examples of popular items (new, unopened items only please):

- Baskets filled with candy, art supplies, nail supplies, etc

- Board games, puzzles

- Lego kits

You can raise money for the SBS PTO just by shopping at the Piggly Wiggly in Oconomowoc! Just save your receipts and have your student turn them in to the office. The PTO receives 1% back! Just drop them off at the office at SBS in an envelope labeled "Attn: PTO".

Would you like to help the PTO but don't have time to attend every meeting and event? You can help plan and/or implement an individual event or fundraiser. Or you can sign up to volunteer your time during individual events like the Monster Bash, Trunk or Treat and the Book Fair. Or help us run a simple fundraiser for Camp Whitcomb.

Or do you have a special talent, skill or interest (i.e. marketing, event planning, sewing, face painting, etc.) you'd be interested sharing with the PTO?
