As a reminder, dismissal begins at 3:30 pm each day (1:50 pm on Wednesdays), and students who are not enrolled in Camp Fire should be picked up by 3:45 pm (2:05-3:30 pm on Wednesdays). Thank you for working with us to keep dismissal running smoothly and to support a safe end to the day for all students!

We are excited to collaborate with KidSight’s vision screening program to provide free vision screenings for our elementary students. Grades Kindergarten through 4th grade will be screened today and tomorrow, Monday, September 29th and Tuesday, September 30th. Each screening only lasts about 30 seconds, and all participating students will receive a detailed letter explaining the results and any recommended next steps with available resources. We will be sending more information home with your student this week, so please check their folders and backpacks. If you do not want your student to be screened, please sign and return the KidSight letter to opt out or contact Johanna Chambers, Director of Student Support, at johanna.chambers@cwckansascity.org.

If your child is in grades 5th through 8th and you have concerns about their vision, you may request a screening by contacting Johanna Chambers at the email address above.

On photo day, October 7th, students are not required to wear their school uniform, and we look forward to everyone dressed up in their favorite outfits!

All Approval/Denial letters for families who have already completed the 2025-2026 Free & Reduced Lunch forms have been sent out via USPS. If you would like a digital PDF version of your letter, please reach out to Mr. Blake Smith.

Each family needs to complete a new form for each school year, and we are still needing forms from about 30% of our families. If you have not yet completed this year's form, please do so as soon as possible. The form can be downloaded here (English or Spanish) or picked up at the front desk. You may either drop off the completed form at the front desk or send a clear photo to Mr. Blake at blake.smith@cwckansascity.org - please feel free to reach out to him with any questions about the form or the FRL program.

This year, our 6th-8th grade middle school students will participate in the Indigo Assessment, a tool that helps students better understand themselves. The assessment highlights individual strengths, communication styles, motivators, and behaviors. Our goal is to use this information to support students in building self-awareness, developing leadership skills, and strengthening relationships at school. We look forward to sharing insights with students and using this resource to help them grow both academically and personally.

Thank you to all of the family members and staff who supported another successful ice cream social with their gifts of time and ice cream sundae items! More than 50 families joined us for the evening, and we had a great time getting to know each other.
