Senior of the Week
Camila Zumaran was nominated by her counselor, Ms. Kim. "I am so excited to nominate Camila Zumaran as our Senior of the Week. Camila represents the best of Rowland High School as a Thinker, Communicator, and Contributor. She possesses a genuine desire to learn, succeed, and lift others up. I am also proud of how she cares for those around her, and she is an inspiration to me and so many other individuals. Camila gives her absolute best in all that she does. Her work ethic and determination are unmatched. She is truly an impressive student. Congratulations, Camila!"
Scholar of the Week
Layla Ochoa was nominated by her teacher, Mr. Magnant. "She has grown to become a leader both in and out of the classroom. Her desire to not only make herself better but also those around her is commendable. She continues to help others in their time of need while ensuring she aligns with Rowland's expectations. Her mentorship of her peers has helped many succeed both in and out of the classroom."
Arts Person of the Week
Jil “Meadow” Litonjua was nominated by the Theater Director, Mr. Kwok. "Meadow has been part of three productions and continues to shine both on and off the stage. From her hilarious turn as Ms. Fleming in Heathers: The Musical to leading as Carol-Ann in Murder on the Runway, and now stepping into the lead female role of Gunborg in Beowulf and the Bard this November 7-8, she has shown tremendous growth, dedication, and care for every role she takes on. Beyond her acting talent, Meadow stands out for her leadership and teamwork—always uplifting her castmates and helping guide each production with positivity and heart. We’re proud to celebrate her as this week’s Artist of the Week!"
Athlete of the Week
Janie Zhou was nominated by her tennis coach, Mr. Magnant. "She exemplifies the ideal student-athlete representative for Rowland High School through her relentless work ethic, natural leadership, and unwavering commitment to the Raiders’ core values. On the rowing team, she arrives before dawn for extra erg sessions, pushing through fatigue to shave seconds off her times while encouraging teammates to match her intensity, turning individual grind into collective progress. As captain, she organizes film reviews, mediates conflicts with calm authority, and mentors underclassmen on everything from stroke technique to time management, fostering a culture where accountability trumps excuses. Off the water, Janie carries the Rowland High School way—respect, resilience, and community pride—into every classroom and volunteer shift, proving that excellence isn’t a slogan but a daily choice she makes for herself and those who follow."
Innovator of the Week
Christian Gallegos was nominated by forensic science teacher, Mr. Cabot. "Christian was selected as this week’s Innovator of the Week for his outstanding performance and positive leadership in class. He consistently demonstrates enthusiasm for learning, takes initiative in discussions and class activities."
